I am not going to test it with cheap oil myself - I don't see a huge benefit from me knowing a bit more but with the risk of damaging the car further. I will let a garage do their diagnosis on it and go from there.

How will you damage the car on cheap oil?
The evidence shows that its leaks under pressure, does the oil pump at the base of the engine have any pipes with O rings that could perish?
