Maintenance Schedule

My Zed will soon be due a service but looking at the service maintenance book there is no official maintenance schedule like they used to have in the older cars which told you what maintenance item needed doing at what mileage / age.

In this book it's got pages of explanation of what the various logos mean in different languages and then pages to put the garage stamp in and that is it. So the question is does anyone have a link to an official maintenance schedule?

bump

I'd also be interested in this info. Trying to decide if I should get the diff fluid changed with next service.

I think this is because there was a move to condition based servicing whereby the vehicle notifies you when it needs attention given the way it’s been driven. However, I think there’s a max of 2 years between services even with minimal usage. There are many people on here who will recommend much more frequent oil changes than BMW stipulate, even given the use of long life lubricants.

As already stated there is the computer based service schedule..many people decry it as barely the minimum to get through the warranty period and not fit for a long term program..

A chap in the US became famous for his BMW unofficial plan which BMW USA lawyers harassed him about..so you don't see much about it..

Here's an old copy of his program..

The only observation I have is that its aimed at people who rack up the miles..but several people have gone 100ks miles on his programs.

That is an interesting find Pbondar  I did find something on a North American BMW dealers website but I was wondering if there was something official from BMW in UK or Europe. You can see the NA BMW dealer's page here:

I can’t find one his online websites at the moment, I know he was subject to potential litigation as he poo poohed the BMW regime..

I think it’s common knowledge that the engine and auto boxes need more frequent oil changes than those BMW mandated..

The common issues, IMHO, is mostly for new forum members who inherit a vehicle with limited services.

So for most people it’s a question of initially changing all the oils, filters, maybe plugs n coils and thereafter a mixture 5k miles / annual engine oil changes plus relatively one if items like drive belts, coolant as you hit major mileage / timescales

His, and many other regimes echo that logic...

If you're running a remap you may also want to change your spark plugs more frequently too. I noticed that mine on the 35i @380ish hp have done about 25k miles and then needed changing. Not sure if this is the same for the N20.

Also struck gold, I have a slightly newer version that you guys can have of the above maintenance schedule (V3.13):

Gone are the days of buying a car and insisting that it is serviced before you buy it.
You will be told that it doesnt need a service and the car will tell you when it wants one.

Thanks that was the version I had seen and was looking for

The general advice was the plugs on non remapped N20s were goo for 40-50k miles but 25k miles was suggested as a re-map version..

Given the fact they are relatively cheap and relatively easy to change doesn’t seem to be much of a burden..
