Main dealer warranty

I purchased my car from a main dealer just under 3 months ago, as such it came with a 12 manufacturer warranty.
As the front fogs are showing signs of moisture I Decided to book it in to have them looked at, whilst in the dealership I asked if they could also have a look at a very slight wining noise coming from the gearbox when in first gear.

A couple of hours passed before I received a call saying unfortunately the fogs arn't covered under the warranty however you need a new gearbox & that is.
I'm still unsure exactly what is wrong with it but boy am I happy that I'm not having to pay for it myself. If I hadn't taken it in for the fogs I wouldn't have taken it in at all as the noise from the gearbox was so insignificant, or so I thought.

sounds like u got very lucky, would much rather pay for a new set of fogs (or just leave them) than forking out for a new gearbox

I wonder if its easy warranty work as I had exactly the same.

Didn't really notice much wrong other than a occasional slight whine. Would have cost £4.5k +

Yes £4-5K was mentioned, & yes indeed I'm thinking myself lucky, I can't imagine what would have happened if I had purchased it through a small independent or private.

You should be able to get the fogs changed if the car is under 3 years old.

Edit: as you have posted under E85/6 then it won't be a manufacturers warranty, it will be AUC warranty which won't cover the fogs.

When I bought my AUC 2008 3.0si Sport Roadster (Jan 2014) I commented upon the front fogs having condensation and they replaced them without argument . . . perhaps not strictly warranty work but good will and negotiated deal. Had a new roof fitted though which would have cost a fair bit and also a few other bits and pieces - I thought the warranty was impressive.

Sounds like you've benefitted as well

The dealer would have taken a hit on that.

I'd asked them about the 1cm wear points on each side of the roof - they weren't responsive to that but Steph had noticed that one of the rear wires on the rear window demister panel was not clearing the glass, so the only way to deal with that was a complete new roof :o :D I was impressed as I said

Did you ever find out what the problem was?
