I appreciate that you live a bit further up the country than me and the snow is a bit deeper but only using a C2S in the summer. Until this forum I never realised that people didn't drive their normal every day cars all year round and locked them up for six months of the year. 
Passed up a c4s a year ago.. Thought it no better than what I have tbh other than kudos and 4 wheel stuff. Same speed worse economy and insurance. Nicer ride tho. Not a fan of the old interior either. Would need to be newer interior for me, it's what tickles my fancy...

Ye but the roads are all country roads its not worth taking it out. Obv when theres no snow its game on but we had snow pretty much from Nov to March last year... Its not like the city up here 
When your buying cars like that interior and toys are irrelevant. The drive is amazing, much much better than any Z. Insurance is barely any difference and consumption it gets 32+ on a good run averages 26 similar to the M. If I was honest better in every way. But I love the Z for what it is.

Lovely car Paza. I think you've done 3 Porsche's and a Lotus in the last 12 months haven't you?!! Legend.
Some of the comments made me smile. Everyone commenting on what is the best 911 variant. The range is deliberately broad to suit all tastes/needs.
If you need it (using the 997 as an example):-
- to drive all year round in icy conditions buy a 4S or a Turbo/Turbo S
- if you want everyday practicality with super car pace buy a Turbo/Turbo S
- if you want probably the purest 911 its a Carrera.
- if you want the best driving 911 it has to be GT3/GT3 RS
- if you want the best driving experience but need 4 seats - Carrera GTS
- if you want bonkers performance without much need for practicality/use in poor conditions - buy a GT2 or GT2 RS
and so it goes on.....

I spent the last few months trying to decided what 997 to buy and I be honest the c2s / c4s was never a driving factor my requirements were quite simple, the 4s does carry a couple of k premium.
Had to have a factory fitted aero kit
Had to be a s
Had to be manual
Had to have excellent history
I had considered whether to get a rs4 or new m3 v8 even a GTR, (Mrs Paza said no to the GTR... I mention it she said Evo end of conversation) but if am honest they did not "feel" special enough that's just a personal view. Did not fancy running a Mazzer so there was only really one choice a porker .... The big choice was 996 TT or 997 S in the end of course the 997 won the day for a number of reasons. I think if I did not need 4 seats would of seriously fancied a Vantage.
That was it , then it was Down to finding the best deal I could. I looked at a few and did a bit of haggling and managed to knock a small fortune off his asking price really is a buyers market as I was pitching two against each other.
It's got great spec, sat nav , Bose, hardback sports seats, pse , sports crono, extended leather , silver interior pack , red seat belts , upgraded gen2 front and rear lights , gt3 short shift and gaitor, gt3 RS front splitter, xexon etc etc , so more spec than i had bench marked. It's only done 50k and has Fdsh and am the 3rd owner so really pleased with it.
The previous owner spent a fortune on OEM turbo alloys , which if am honest am not mad on , thankfully he still had the original 19" Carrera Sport alloys so am swapping them back and formed part of the sale. So going to sell these on.
I would say that in my short experience with her , it's quick... Quicker then I expected if am honest and feels quite involving. It's certainly a new driving experience and feels different to the 996 C4S I had and the Cayman , my first reaction is not as good handling but am really not sure... With all this bad weather and greasy roads I have not pushed it. What I am sure is that it looks and feels fantastic inside and out , and most of all my baby girl can get in the car! Until I can drive her on a dry road and become more accustomed with it I will not be able to answer what's better handling?
