MagSafe phone mount

Hi All,

I’ve just got a MagSafe compatible iPhone and want to add one to the Z. There are loads on the market some good and some bad.

The one that has caught my eye is the belkin boost charge or the pro but that’s quite spenny!

The Zs air vents are quite weak so not sure if this is a great idea.

I would like one with the charger built in, I’m not too worried about fast charge but a charger would be great!

What have you guys bought and if you have pics for ideas on mounting that would also be great!

I’ve got a mous case and car mount in mine. Doesn’t have the wireless charging, but there are mounts which have that feature. Happy with it, but it’s for one of the older iPhones now. So assume the newer cases and mounts will be even better!

I wouldn’t personally go for a vent mounted unit. Not the best place for a phone and like you mentioned not as secure, the vent slats are quite flimsy.

I've been looking for something like this for a while that actually works without the need for an additional magnetic sticker in the case. Your post reminded me, so bought one and it should be here tomorrow. Will report back when it's in.

Funnily enough I've literally just been through this myself!

I wasn't too bothered about having the built in charger though... I wanted something that looked okay when things weren't plugged in, and not too bothered about charging the phone with a USB-C cable, so not sure how much I can help - but I ended up trying a couple. The first one I bought was a Mous magsafe car mount:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mous-MagSa...-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

I liked the subtle styling, and have heard good things about their cases, so thought I'd give it a go. It looks smart, and I would have kept it - but I couldn't fit it properly without needing to bend the vents apart, and wasn't happy at the idea of then attaching a phone to it too, so returned that one.

Instead I've ended up with this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/YOSH-Mag-S...-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

Pretty happy with it. It fits the vents nicely, and feels very securely attached. I took it out in the car today for the first time, and the phone was solidly stuck on the whole time - feels very solid all in all. Would definitely recommend if you're after a non charging magsafe phone holder.

It looks like they do a car charger version that's similar with the same attaching to the vent mechanism, so should fit the zed okay:

I had a similar dilemma last year. I exercise on mountain bikes, ride motorbikes and drive, so I needed something that's proven to deliver in most situations. I was directed to Quad-lock mounts by friends, and to be honest I brought the windscreen mount together with a pair of handlebar mounts for the bikes. All I can say, is that they are solid, the phone always feels secure, no matter what terrain, on a bike or in the car. They do a range for mag safe charging. If I had an iphone I wouldn't hesitate to grab their products. Good luck with whatever you decide on

Probably not very helpful but I ended up getting a custom bracket made as I couldn’t find any that worked well.

Bracket goes on the right driver’s side vent.275FC650-5801-403E-B71E-0991607584E4.jpegD9D92B0E-D454-47C8-B067-42EC52D54ECF.jpeg

The MagSafe cable goes inside the panel so no wires exposed:

Works well for me, it is pretty sturdy so no problem of phone dropping:

Thank you for all the replies

Just to let you know the Belkin one is in the Amazon sale for £22 def worth it at that price I think

I had a vent mounted phone holder for a while.....but it's just broken one of the slats and meant I had to replace the centre vent unit

I've ordered this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C273FR2T?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

With the intention of sticking it to the windscreen and using the extension to bring the phone closer. Not fitted yet so time will tell if I like it, or if it even works.

Update: Received and installed the one linked in the OP. So far, pretty happy with it. Magnetic grip with a standard case is more than enough.
Only thing I don't like is that it sticks out relatively far from the vent, but that's something I can live with.

It's great that you found a MagSafe car mount that works well for your needs and fits your car vents nicely. Thanks for sharing the information and your recommendation for the YOSH MagSafe phone holder. If anyone is looking for a non-charging MagSafe phone holder, it seems like a good option to consider.

I put MagSafe in all my cars. Usually I never get around to hardwiring them into the fuse box, but very useful thing to have as an Apple user.

As you keep all your cars 5 minutes, you must have a wholesale account

This is also why they never get hardwired.
