A gentle potter on the Saturday.

banff castle.jpg

Based in and around Banff and Aberdeenshire in north east Scotland, this is a relaxed day of steady pottering with the emphasis on enjoying the scenery, having longer breaks and a less focused and frenetic drive compared to some of the more 'hooning' weekends.

The excuse for this outing is to take in the lesser known castles in this largely bypassed part of Scotland.

Starting around 10:00 am and planning to finish 16:00 ish and around 125 miles of driving including photo / tea stops and a lunch halt.

Likely start position around Aberdeen or Aviemore to be advised.

Open to all, the more the merrier, subject to the then COVID regulations.

It may have to be reduced to 8 cars if Scottish Level 2 is in force or cancelled if Level 3 or higher is in force.

Please do not book accomodation until we suggest you do, and then we suggest you have a COVID related cancellation policy with your bookings.

Hi Richie I’m staying Friday and Saturday and Argyll Andy I believe is planning to do the same..not just broken the news to his GF yet..

Mo and I are staying here https://www.saplinbrae.co.uk/stay/stylish-rooms which is a little distance away from the start but looks fab and positions us for something away from the usual Premier Inn / Holiday Inn Express which whilst I use extensively I’m getting a bit jaded with hence a treat.

I think Andy is planning to stay there too..no doubt he will update us once the post coital glow of his new car has subdued..

Splendid :driving:

A last call for this trip..some new peeps have joined, so its an invite mainly aimed at those.

Last call for confirmation of attendance and whether you are bringing a passenger along thanks..need to close out catering logistics

Pleasant day had discovering some new coastal routes and a few old Whisky trail favourites…

Great roads, surprisingly quiet once off the A roads given it’s the height of staycation.

Only 3 stalwarts in the end…some people have been pinged, others having to cover for pinged people…

Lovely Bijou Cafe on the coast for lunch.

Finding old castles not so easy…many of the beggars are hidden up tracks not suitable for low hung Zeds….but the plus was some great roads you would not normally have travelled ..

Thanks to Rich n Wullie for great company..
