these magic sponge things for the leather ... are they just melamine sponges or something else that is branded "magic sponge" ?

I use this works really well on the leather

I bought the JML one - no idea if all the 'magic' is the same irrespective of brand. Not tried it yet, job for the weekend to see if I can get the leather nice and clean and the bolster wear properly covered.

yep, also great for removing scratchs from the cars plastics

and if you like you retro white trainers it cleans up the rubber on the sides very nicely

You can get the JML magic sponge in Homebase, they have a special JML display.
The 'sponge' cleaned my white leather seats better than anything. Well worth it.

thanks, they are what i thought. this stuff has been around a while and is also good for temperature control and sound insulation :)

You can get melamine sponges on eBay for very cheap... Same thing as the various branded "magic sponges"

Does it not make the leather shiny tho?

No, the opposite. Wipe the steering wheel with one and 'magically' you have a new matt finish leather wheel!

So not a good idea to use them on your seats then? Not too sure I want matt finished seats....

Used one on the red leather in our 3 series, came up fantastic really clean. Then used leather balm & they look like new.also steering wheel too. Used leather cleaner in the past but the sponge gave it a rally good deep clean looks like new

Currently waiting on chips away to finish refurbing the zed, and shall then be off to go and buy one as the leather seats are the last thing on my list to get sorted out ! :driving:

The seat leather started off mostly though didn't it :?

used one of these the other day! i got 4 from ebay for less than £2! got all the marks of my plastic! be careful on cracked leather though as i found it was actually taking the colour off!

I found it brought up the scuffs (not in a good way )on the leather when I cleaned a test patch with it, and seemed to rub off more of the colour :( - as mentioned above !
Very good on the enamel black range cooker though and taps...... will keep it away from the car.

Absolutely right, go to a dealership and tell me how many new vehicles have shiny leather?!
