Valvetronic adaptations reset...yes, but you need INPA which it doesn’t sound like you have.

Here’s a link for it anyway... https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=113662&hilit=%23adaptation

Thanks mate, i take it this will work on the N46 also? It would be so satisfying if it was to smooth the idle thing out.

Thanks mate, all the things you point to have been sorted over time, it has had a new valvetronic fitted after the original failed and the manifold has been TIG welded. And leaks have been rectified as and when needed, although it has a small water leak on the front union pipe coming from the radiator which will be replaced shortly.

The car itself runs fine and no problems apart from a slight uneven idle which as you say is an accepted definition of the N46 2.0i. The airflow readings have been tested on several different scanners now & all read the same 0.00%. Still unsure of the "Air Status - Off" don't know what that means :idunno:

Would having the valvetronic adaptations cleared help do you think?

Thanks mate, tug

I'm not an INPA or code user (In fact I passed my BM Cables kit to another member after I nearly cleared all modules by accident  ) but as more knowledgeable software users mention it has to be the next step.

Interesting thread. Having played around with various different ECU readers, I know the idiosyncrasies can be troublesome.

I recently bought a Foxwell NT510 Multi-system scanner which has software for BMW/Mini/Rolls Royce loaded. The device connects perfectly with 3 of my cars (none of them RR  ), but with my 2002 S54 M Coupe, I have discovered that it performs differently when connected to the under-bonnet round ECU connector than it does when connected to the under-dash OBD II connector. That car has thrown a DSC fault and when the car is connected to INPA no DSC module is available, but the Foxwell is able to connect to the car's DSC ECU and it can perform 20 active tests on the entire system as well as read and erase faults.

OP, Might be worth getting an Indy with a different scanner to take another look.

i have just had a phone call from bmw - seems they are concerned as Tug is now carrying more stock than they are

Just remember where your pool cue is laddy any more from you and it will get it !!!
