Machine Polishing question using Autofinesse

I am using a Rupes 15 bigfoot with the correct Autofinesse pad and the Autofinesse restore polish, I use a squirt of clay lube to prime the pad but I find after the first slow sweep of the panel the polish starts to go to fine dust, whats going wrong? The pad does get warm but not too hot.

Did you lube the pad first? You have to use lubricant on the pad before applying a polish.

Could be putting too much polish on, you only need about 3 or 4 pea sized blobs per panel. Could also just be the polish. I use Sonax EX04-06... http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-polish-compounds/sonax-ex-04-06-polish/prod_1382.html

Ive bee using clay lube a coupe of squirts on the pad and about 4 pea size amounts per 2foot square, may be too much polish. It seems that the polish is drying out too quickly. Will try the sonax as well to see if that helps

is there much difference between sonax perfect finish and E04-06?

"The original Sonax PF (said to be made for rotary) was flamed for filling defects in some instances rather than actually removing them. IIRC the explanation was that certain components of the polish would not break down with the lower heat of the DA machine vs. Rotary. It was a loved polish for a while, until "Filler-gate" and then the professional world sort of fell out of love with it pretty quickly."

They later released EX 04/06 as an update for DA use with a new formula...

"This unique formula was created specifically for use with dual-action or random orbital polishers and the abrasives break down consistently to help you produce the high amounts of depth and gloss. EX 04-06 is water based and contains no solvents, silicones or petroleum."
