I didn't get much chance to try it out due to the deluge and busy roads but it's easy to invoke a lock up if you want one plus traction off the line is awesome. If you want more feedback you could try ringing Birds but if you've got it fitted you'll soon know yourself if it's any good. Fingers crossed you've got the updated version that mounts better.

I don't think I will worry about it. No point worrying about something that hasn't happened. My old one was completely knackered with so much play in it. And I have researched it a fair bit and spoken to a few people I know who have one fitted. And it's only been positive. From what I can tell it fits great is made well so fingers crossed I don't have any problems.

Yeah i have looked on Realoem and my old trusty Haynes manual. Just didn't have any of that available. And its was getting late and cold and it seemed like a good time to down tools.

Ha ha I can see the problems with that!! I try and save as many penny's as I can for this time of year now. It can be horrible working in a dark cold barn. But it's better than than being in the summer (made that mistake twice)
Agreed the best thing about my only other BMW was the steering feel and weight. I have tried everything to sort it. Nothing has really worked. And again when I drove a Z4m the steering (and seats) where the only thing that really made me feel I need one. I didn't get to enjoy the s54 fully it was a Frieda car after all.

Another unsuccessful weekend with the spanners!! I was stuck down with monkey flu!!still fly wheel on and I cleaned up the workshop. I also can't work on the car next weekend so I am now about a month behind not quite what I wanted. But I guess it was to be exspected with having the mini monkey around :rofl:
And we have a new family car arriving Saturday so we will be saying good buy to our much loved TT.

Clutch flywheel in and the gearbox is back on. The clutch feels so much nicer to the foot. I haven't driven it anywhere yet as its still on the lift. Steering to finish in the next few weeks and to build my new exhaust. Hopefully all finished by spring!!

Been reading this for a while now! As you can imagine I had quite some catching up to do! I wouldn't say I've read through it comprehensively but got a good feel for the car and it's progression over the course of ownership! Glad you didn't sell and it's still a WIP. Turbo still on the cards? Impressed that you always like to try something different, making it yours. Making it unique, spoiler being a good example! New Q5? Where are our pics?? Congrats with the little monkey and look forward to following the progress till you're back on he road in spring! Kis.

That is quite an undertaking reading all that drivel :rofl: Your right the car has evolved and progressed as my ability and confidence has increased. Also after doing track days drift days and finding an area that i want improving. And then finding a solution and doing it have been all part of the fun. There are not many off the shelf parts. And i dont have huge amounts invested in it. As was the plan all along i am glad i have stuck to that. Yes there will still be a turbo in the future. The exhaust I am building is to help that out once its installed.
I dont have any good pictures of the Q5 been too busy and its been to wet and horrid to get any!!. It looks like this picture off the internet.

I think your right it will never be finished!! Although I think I will be moving on to another z4 project after this is done all being well. I fancy a v8 fully caged race built but road legal coupe next. But that's probably a 10 years or so away!?
