Just found this thread and had a great read through it whilst waiting for my turn at the Barbers, almost missed my go! haha. Lovely car, sounds as good as it looks!! :D :D

Ha ha it's a lot of reading!!!
Thanks that's very kind both looks and sound need a little love.

I have not forgotten the tips I have them cleaned up on the lathe. I just need to polish them.

So if you have a keen eye you may notice my signature has changed....... A friend and his mate really liked my avatar. And my friends mate being in the clothing business asked if he could use it. The fruits of his work are available too see and buy just click on the www.machinemonkey.co.uk

I am not massively involved in this due to being busy with work. And getting our house finally finished for when our mini monkey arrives. But i will hopefully get some cash my way from it. And i have made a promise that all cash from this will go towards my z4 turbo project....

So if you want to actually see a turbo project start and finish on hear buy a tee shirt maybe even a hat :)

Sorry about the shameless plug!!

NIce MM development Matt - good money to made in t-shirts!

Maybe you could offer the MM logo in a sticker too - likely to be popular.

Good luck with the house and mini MM developments, and look forward to seeing the car again at ZedFest.

You have a great Avatar/logo - I've always thought that - good luck with the website Matt, t-shirts and hats look great

Looking good Mat!

One thing, did you put the motor back exactly as it was? because the level shouldn't have been low, it's a sealed system isn't it?

Chances are you've changed the position or angle of the motor so it requires more fluid, just be wary that if you put it back where it was you'll have to empty some out. If it's over full it won't be able to operate fully and will basically lock iirc.

Thanks Marlon

Rob the motor is now in the boot so up higher. The fluid loss was from when i changed them over. Its all working great now thanks.

I had half a days holiday yesterday. So i could pick up some machinery for the workshop.
We now have (once i have installed and commission it) a lathe and a milling machine everything a machine monkey needs :D
So mine and my mates workshop is now getting there

milling machine
lathe
off hand grinders and polishing
guillotine
sandblasting cabinet
tig + mig welding equipment
Soldering hearth
2 post lift
20 ton press
spray booth
tyre fitting machine
tyre balancing machine
lots of spanners hammers and sockets.

The only thing i need now is time to use it all and work on the projects....

Good luck with that with the little one on the way :poke:

Unfortunately thats all too true :(

Anyway hear is a picture they may not look to special. And they are all old but they are in great working order. They just need building up and a bit of love.

I also booked on to the next track day at Curborough for the 25th of July.

Complete with what looks like a hangman's noose for when it all gets too much! :o

It can all get too much LOL
That is a armored cable i have run. I need my mate to pop round and wire in all the lights and power points.

Does your lathe have electronic movement is it proper old school hand wound only?

Unfortunately it's all old school manual machinery. Witch sucks a bit but there is probably over £2k worth of equipment as it is with all the attachments that comes with it.

You would probably need to spend £25k to set up with even old knackerd CNC stuff. I just don't have that :o it is after all just a hobby shop. I can make almost everything I will need with what I have there. Just need a band saw now.

Not saying it's totally a bad thing as the finish is far more down to the machinist which must be satisfying.

It's satisfying on one off stuff. And stuff you want to make (things for yourself) it's PITA for all other jobs. Luckily the machines are for me and my mate so we can build our own one off bits n bobs. So everything we need.

So I am starting to think my car hates me
I got the roof motor working. But hadn't put my boot back together. So I have spent every evening this week attentively cleaning. Snow foam clay bar polish and then wax. Spent ages cleaning the inside. Deep cleaning the leather (it looks amazing now) treated all the rubber bits and went to town on the plastics.

So after making some exhaust tips I decided to put my boot back together. Done that all going well.... And my roof worked this morning-this afternoon and this evening..... It unlatches and I can hear the motor working. But the light flashes and it don't drop

I am guessing the micro switch is the problem. I did have a problem with it before and I can't remember what I did. But I guess I messed it up putting the carpets back in.

I think some people have just shorted the switch out so it will work regardless, so maybe it just a broken join, hope it's a quick fix for you

Think that's what I did. I must have dislodged it or broke it fitting the carpets back in.

All fixed. The switch was fine.
I must have put a kink in one of the hydraulic lines when i put the plastics and carpet back in. I guess when i was trying to tuck it into the tight space. Any way took it out it worked. Put it back in more carefully and it works again.

Happy Monkey
