Machine monkeys zed

Yeah it is a shame i have much to learn. I am hopping to have a few little painting projects coming up. The first few nothing to do with the car. I am sure i will be filling your message box soon enough...

No worries. You'll find it much easier getting the perfect finish with the last stages of prep using proper materials from a gun. Ie 2k primer. You'll be amazed with the difference between that and the spray can stuff.

Cool first thing first where is the best place to buy and what brands?
Well I use spray centre in sheffield but they might be a bit far from you  just find a local supplier of automotive paints and get some 2k primer with hardener and thinners. Solvent basecoat of the colours u need (this thins down 50/50) 2k clear with hardener and thinners. Get a palm da sander and a few boxes of discs of different grades. Just get a bergen gravity fed gun off ebay with a 1.4 tip and you're on your way. Gun is a touch over 20 quid and a bergen palm da costs about 36 delivered. You don't have to spend a fortune. Oh and a big drum of gunwash lol.

Yeah Sheffield might be a bit far!! Unless they will post. I don't really know any of what you just wrote apart from the spray gun and sander. But I have stuff to research now  keep an eye on the midlands meets and LUke mace is doing one around Corby area quick trip down the M1

Haha well you'd be best off asking a local bodyshop what suppliers are nearby. 2k or 2 pack primer and clear just means its a 2 part version that u have to mix a hardener in just like expoxy resin etc. 2k is far superior in every way and is what pros use. Also you thin these materials down with thinner. Usually about 10 percent.
I'll keep an eye out for the meets. Wanna get the zed up and running first though!

Cool thanks I am sure we will meet at one soon enough. Thanks for the tips I have some time off soon so will be reading up

So it's my birthday today so I have had the zed for a year :D if you have read this then you know I have done a few things to the car. So plans for her this year get her completely 100% mechanically sound and all the rattles and squeaks gone.

I am also gonna teach myself how to spray paint and sort the paint problems.

Yeahhhh painting :) do that first lol

Just got back from the library (sainsburys) having flicked through this months performance BMW, loads of positive comments about your work

Are you taking orders yet?

No not yet I have to get my workshop finished and the machines in. I think it will be the new year hopefully I will have a few people after some bits n bobs by then. Gonna need it to help pay for all the work on the garage!!

What are you after again Dave??

Now I remember well I will add you to the list I am about to start

They are for a facelift / coupe right 60mm round fitment.

My own page haven't thought of that  I might message the big cheeses and ask once I am set up :)

Happy birthday for yesterday mate, glad you're going to sort out the paint. It'll be a good thing to learn too.

Thanks Rob my birthday was a few weeks ago though. Yeah can't wait but don't panic I won't be starting with the car!! I have a few other things to practice on.

Almost, ///M :D 60mm I'd, 64mm od, 100mm long (x4)

Deffo got to have your own page/area, the amount of new people looking at the site (and subsequent increase in site value) as a result of the publicity your getting in the press has got to be worth it

Damn it hate getting things wrong :x

I have not done any for an ///M yet. You might have to come to my place for me to fit them. As the M tips are riveted on. Unless your happy to drill them and fit them?

Thanks it's very kind

Yep I can drill and fit (going to paint the hanging ball sacks while there off) just need some nicely finished tubes.

Credit where it's due.

Haven't posted anything hear for a while. TBH the car has been neglected for a while due to the workshop build. Well hopefully that will be finished by the end of February. And i will be up and running and making bits for people. The jobs I wanted to get done are still on the list first off.

1 Oil filter, plugs, petrol filter and air filter change.
2 get rid of all the annoying squeaks and rattles if i can
3 New track rod ends and control arms ( that will be the front completely overhauled then with all new parts)
4 Sort out the paint work ( going to have a go myself  )
5 Overhaul the rear axle ( LSD of some kind ) All new bushes and all components sandblasted and re painted. Once done get all the alignment set properly.
6 Big brake conversion with Rob (RJS)

Well that should keep me busy this year. I will need people to buy Monke stuff to pay for some/most of it :)

I have a days drifting training coming up thanks to my lovely wife. I plan to go to a few track days and drift day and have a bloody good time.

2014 will be a good one last year sucked a little for me. But not this one

Thanks for reading my little update.

Drifting will be great mate! Sounds like a cracking year ahead
Plenty of tinkering to do
Monkey pad finished
