I would say that's a sensible option. Speak to a few paint places. You might be surprised what they say they can do for little extra cash. Certainly the engine bay is a good and fun DIY job.
If my paint hadn't been so bad I wouldn't have done it. But I get what your saying lots of zeds are silver gray and black. Nothing wrong with that I liked my silver zed. But it is nice adding colour to a group.
