Hi guys, Matt aka Machine Monkey strikes again.

People may have saw my thread about wanting a UK equivalent to the ultimate cup holders from the states. They are $25 plus $5 postage and take anything from 3 to 7 weeks to arrive.

Machine Monkey made one for me and sent it and it arrived today! Saved me money and in super fast time!

This sits on the side pillow of your center console and slips under the plastic bit of the center console. I didnt want the retro fit cup holders because of 2 problems I heard people have. First problem is they are not too secure and shake and rattle about and when it causes spillage it leaves a sticky mess and wet trouser leg, second problem is if like me you can be on long journeys but in and out of your car in meetings then leaving the cup holder out makes it more annoying getting in and out of the car.

So, this was a perfect solution for me and in my opinion the best place for a cup holder. Any spillage only goes on carpet and its super easy to access :-)

Thanks Machine Monkey! (Even if you did get rid of those bargain wheels to someone else and not me :-)

It doesn't do it for me, however its your zed and if you like it that is really all that counts in the end.

Loved the cupholder in my 6 series , it was more modern art meets functionality . when you didnt need it it fit into the rear armrest .
i believe it was a £140 extra but well worth it IMO

when removed it left a small chrome/metal slit in console , sleek & slick . get on with a replica mod Mm

Now I like the look of that one, never seen that style before though.

It was a factory option , this shows it better out of the console http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-6-Series-Cup-Holder-/281068721909?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41710056f5&_uhb=1
very well made out of high chrome metal & when you lift the centre armrest it slipped into a mirror image of itself .
Was a nice touch for sure  nothing like the plastic caper that pop's out of the dash

I know, Ive been in and out of my mates garage this garage this week putting new body panels on mrs car! My Cars filthy!

No problem buddy glad to help out fellow members  after using my cup holders the last few days. I might make one of these for myself. Sorry again about the wheels got my//M wheels today 100% genuine newly refurbished I paid £360 bargin I think :D Got them off a top bloke proper petrol head Audi R8 and an //M 3 in his garage.

It gets a wash and a Hoover every weekend. It's just I am always working on it I live in dirty work clothes :( and my drive is not finished as I have not finished all the building work on the house. Not enough hours in the day and all that. Apparently we all have a Certain amount of jobs to do in our lives. At this rate I will never get to die

They are for driving not just cleaning my friend. I think we need to get you some help :poke:
I agree. I've had my Z nearly 5 months and only cleaned it twice. I hate cleaning cars.

I like the idea... And probably a better location then the stock ones... Where you knock whatever is in them with your knees coming in and out of the car.

I like it, does the job and perfect for me, and cheaper, less hassle means more time for me to enjoy driving the car. Which is what its for :-)

i don't mind it, but it just seems like a strange place to put it. does your left leg not rub against it?

Nope, leg doesn't even touch it with a big bottle in. It sort or sits under where your knee is. Not rubbed it once with my leg. Its the best place to have it in my opinion, low down to the ground where any potential spillage cant cause any harm.
