Yesterday I became the proud owner of a 13" Air, which I am slowly getting to grips with. However I would like to port my old emails from outlook 2003 to Mail, however they seem to have ignored that PST exist and so after searching the web the use of thunderbird as an intermediary would work.....which it didn't. Can I use the migrate function?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Hey Bud,

You need to run Thunderbird on your old PC (not the Mac). Download and install Thunderbird on your old PC, during the set up select 'import everything from Outlook'. Once that is done, transfer the Thunderbird profile folder to your MacBook Air, then in Mac Mail, import the Thunderbird Profile.

Hope that helps.

i think i created a gmail account and set it up on outlook and moved all my messages to the gmail server using Outlook. then set up the gmail account on the mac and downloaded the emails from the gmail server onto the mac email program.

a bit of a pain if you've got loads of email folders, but pretty easy if you've only got a few.

Congratulations on the MacBook Air, I have one of the first ones which is still going strong and is such a nice laptop to use.

I'm running Office 2011 for Mac, which now works as well as Office for Windows. I was fortunate to get this through the last company I worked for, for $9.99, unfortunately I don't think I can get any more licence keys through this route, but I'll investigate and let you know.

Well the porting is complete, it took a while to complete but it's done, for some reason Thunderbird didn't work, so used a third party software.

I have office 2010 home edition, which comes without outlook on my home PC, however one of he reasons to ditch outlook and the PC was because of sink issues with my iPhone and iPad......ending up with duplicate entries in my calendar.

And therein lies the genius of Apple - make your (very desirable) products non-compatible or annoying to sync and hey presto the PC gets ditched for an Apple Mac!! Brilliant!!

All my personal and now work email is cloud based with the company I work for using Google for email, calendaring etc. I was quite cynical at first, but now I wouldn't want to go back to a locked in environment. I can access my email and calendar from any device, via web browser or app and can even use Outlook to access my Google account on my PC.
