M6 Gran Coupe

Wow. My dad's been a BMW petrolhead since I was born, so I rented an M6 to take him on a brief joyride.

For such a huge machine I can't get over a) the straight line speed and b) how well it behaves when you throw it around :O 0-60 in around 4 seconds, 560 or so bhp out of the box. Although I can't really see the point in the M5 (slightly bigger seats/boot?) and the M6 GC co-existing?

It's in no way a coupe IMO ( A saloon with a slightly slopey roof maybe), BMW's model deliniation have become so blurred its funny nowadays. Sounded good, I assume it's got some sort of valve-tronic style exhaust as sometimes it was dead quiet but others had a throaty road

At any rate, mental machine (although I'd go for a 'normal' coupe personally), got the thumb of approval from pops.

Awesome...what a beast...and dig those alloys! Pops must have been well chuffed Jaw....what a nice thing to do!

Mmmm.... I'd love an M6 gran coupe. though cost and economy might have something to do with it, so i'll probably settle for a 430d GC.

personally, I'm completely sold on the gran coupe - best of both worlds in my opinion, practically of a 4 door with looks of a 2 door, its a win win!

What was very cool but I didn't realise until you said that - the doors are all pillarless which is a nice touch and I guess unusual in a saloon

Amazing car....being a coupe owner I must say it looks great to me with that hardtop on......what a car!

I've been looking at the 4-series GC and the 6-series GC - am I right in saying the boot opening in the 6-series GC is pretty small? I think in the 4-series, the boot and rear window open like a hatchback but in the 6 it's just the bootlid?

Would love one of these as a daily.

When I test drove one it had wheelspin in every gear on full throttle until you get into 5th, those little chirps just awesome. The exhaust note is really good too for a turbo.

Great looking machine, problem is the depreciation. The one I test drove had a list of £115k, it was an 8 month old demo 5k miles and was £66k. That sort of depreciation is enough to scare anyone away.

TBH at that sort of money new I would have a new 911 all day long. They are now very competent GT cars have bridged the gap between a traditional sports car and a GT. They have the panamera interiors, far lighter and with the flick of a switch are a completely different animals.

Lovely car and unlike many cars it looks great in white. I’d like an M6 Gran Coupe as a ‘practical’ family car.
