Just got back in , my car is making a funny ticky sound, Its a 2003, 3.0 m54.

am I being paranoid? it wasnt doing it this morning...

It appears to be coming from under the bit im pointing at with my gorilla hands.

Vanos? HVA?

I have an warranty so fingers crossed its something that is covered.

Your DISA valves ballsed. The black box on the right of the engine. Unplug the lead from it and see if it goes away :thumbsup:
 
150 ish from BMW. Don't get a used one either! 5 mins to replace! Will post later a how to
 
well that was hard...

went to my local BMW specialist, as my warranty doesn't cover dealer labor prices..

Showed him what was wrong and how i knew, (unplugged the DISA etc)

BMW man "ooooooo, they are pretty hard to come by as i have to ship them from Germany, about 3-4 weeks"

me " ok well here are my warranty details, can you phone them to get it authorised??"

next day, no call from BMW man, so i call my local stealer to check the part is in stock, no, 2 working days and its mine, ok then i call warranty company, check im covered for the part and labour, they say ok.. so im going to go back to BMW man and having done the hard work for him see if he wants to repair my car now!

p.s. im not allowed to fix it myself under warranty, stupid rule. Im with warranty direct, good service.

Its almost as if they don't want the hassle!
