Hi Everyone

New to the forum but not to the Z, I’m running a 2004 3.0i and am looking for some feedback and info on some engine upgrades

After much thought I’m leaning towards keeping my build NA as opposed to supercharging, I have my reasons but I’m looking to hear from anyone who has installed a Schrick cam in there M54

What kind of gain to you get from the upgrade? Did you do any other valve train work?

I’m looking for feedback from anyone who has actually done the work not opinions

Thanks

Is this the article you are referring to?

Considering the fact that this engine is rather powerful it does not need any serious modifications or upgrades. You should forget about chip tuning. It does not have any sense here. We are opting for classical set of tuning camshafts. Schrick 264/248 camshafts with 10.5/10 mm lift will be a perfect choice to increase the level of HP. You will additionally need cold air intake and performance exhaust system taken from Supersprint, for example.
When tuning of ECU is over, your engine will have from 260 to 270 HP. It will become sportier with aggressive sound. It will be more than enough for everyday city ride.
If you need more power, you can purchase forged pistons with high compression (12.5-13), camshafts of duration 280/280 deg, customized ITB from S54B32, dry sump and other components.

I wondered about it too. I would like to hear any FHE as well but I can’t imagine me spending the money for parts and labor and I don’t want non-stock exhaust. But the extra HP is somewhat tempting. If nothing else, it might be wise to purchase the camshafts while they are available (who knows how long they will be available) I did look them up and I don’t recall what the cost was but I recall it was reasonable.

Do it and let us all know!
