There seems to be a recent flood of m5 f10 come onto the BMW auc market, most are 25-30k miles fully loaded starting @ £35kish which would surely be negotiable

0-60 in 4secs with potential for 40mpg on extra urban.

Anyone had some time with them in the real world?

I had one absolute beast of a car, put your foot down and you are in loose your license speeds very quickly... I only had it about 5 month as I just could not get on with it. I came from a 1M to a M5 and it was like driving a boat a big fast boat haha, never felt comfortable leaving it in car parks as it was longer than the spaces. Always felt I was going back to some damage.. But the tech in the car was just unreal , I was averaging around 21mpg around the doors

F10 M5 is on the bucket list, and I have noticed the prices due to amazing deals from dealers a couple of years ago.

Axelf has it right though, I've only had a lowly 520d and it is just too long / wide for most parking spaces if you value the car. I had to move to a different car park in Wokingham as the available spaces either had me hanging out the front a few feet, or just unable to get out the car once parked. New 7 series appears to have addressed this with the 'reverse in using the key' function or whatever they call it

I think that is the only drawback, for a city car it is too big, else as you say the v8 is on my engine configuration bucket list :)
