M40i engine

Long time no post ... but interested to know if the new Z4 M40i actually has the newest version of the B58 engine yet ?

I have an X3 M40i at the moment after my Z4's, M240i convertible and a brief defection to Mercedes. The X3 has the 355bhp version of the B58 but the 2020 M340i has the EU standard uprated engine at 369bhp ... sadly no the USA version at 380bhp.

If the new M40i is still running officially as the 340bhp B58 when is it likely to get the newer more powerful version ?

I believe not. The latest engine in the 340i and the new 440i develops 374bhp in the UK even with the filter. I think I read somewhere that it wasn't ready in time for the Z4 M40i at launch.

I would imagine that LCI might bring an engine update but we're some way off the LCI for the G29.
