M40i CO₂ emissions

I am wondering if any one can explain why the 2023 LCI M40i model CO₂ emissions is rated at 184 g/km where as my previous 2019 M40i CO₂ emissions was only 168 g/km. I am wondering if BMW have reduced some of the stuffing out of the exhaust system, since I have noticed that the exhaust sounds much deeper and is more throaty than the 2019 model, and which might account for the increase in emissions rating?

Figures are broadly similar ..different certification basis in 2019 vs 2023 but close enough

For M40i

2019 EU6-LD temp 191-192
2023 WLTP 184-183

So the deeper exhaust sound is just one of many minor differences that I have noticed between the 2019 and the 2023 LCI models

I thought everybody knew.....white cars are much less eco-friendly than red ones. It's a sure-fire fact. :D

PS It may have something to do with change in fuels too. E5, etc! :?

PPS Just noticed the 'official figure' (which means absolutely nothing as it's a desktop calculation) is exactly 10% higher. Strange? :?

ONLY 168g? 168 grams of a gas is a LOT of gas. And that's per km, not mile.
For every 1,000 miles at 184g/km you are pumping out nearly a 1/3 tonne of CO2. So much for kerbing global warming!

So that's what it is

I remembered the CO2 rating method changed between when I ordered my G31 and when I took delivery of it. It's exactly same car but CO2 is about 20g/km higher. The car was ordered in March 2020 and delivered in May 2020 so your 2019 vs. 2023 might be due to the same reason.
