M40 re surface

I have just got back from dropping Mrs FB at the services on the M40 to meet our daughter. It's great to see their re surfacing the motorway, lovely smooth surface and it looks fantastic too.....pity it's the bloody hard shoulder. WTF ! they are re laying miles of it and it was in better condition than the main carriageway in the first place

No, there are no plans on this motorway to use the HS as a running lane, so looks like a good way to waste a few million £££ . The local council did the same thing last year, they re surfaced a service road behind 20 homes, again no need to do it as the surface was in good condition..much better than the local potholed roads that people actually drive on.
