M4 Unmarked Police Cars

there is an orange ford st guildford way normally on a3 i see a few times on the way to work.
prob not one any more but use to be a black skoda vrs in bordon /alton way.
if i see a car 1 or 2 years old with more than one ariel then i slow down as 9 times out of 10 its an undercover cop car.
 
Without any knowledge of the R36 but knowing VW, and the kind of car this is marketed against (Mazda 6 MPS, Vectra VXR) my absolute stab in the dark would be that it doesn't offer enough handling performance for people who are interested in 300bhp cars. It's an odd spot in the market as you'd probably prefer to go out and buy an M3/5 or an RS4.

Which brings me onto the next video. I was actually scared just watching this sat in the safety of my living room!

Not sure if it was a R36 but a passat estate featured in the convoy I inadvertently got mixed up with so that makes at least two. It couldn't pass me though so I suspect possibly not.

Others included a civic type R and an old scooby in non-boy racer spec. Unless these were their owner's cars being used on official duties with stick on blue lights just goes to show you can't second guess the types of unmarked car you might come across.
 
I'm not going to be popular for typing this, but informing people of traffic cops by any means falls under "obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty."

It's a rather silly view to be of the opinion that police should be doing other work. It's those same coppers who are responsible for collecting the remains of people in bags after they've crashed on the motorway and being dismembered. It's those same coppers who tell families that their loved ones died in an accident caused by excessive speed. So perhaps forgive them for trying to prevent future incidents.

I know this is a hard response, but I believe the officers deserve a little more respect than has been met by a few posts.

In all serious, much respect for MOST coppers, my sister in law and training partner included and especially the one that let me off with a quiet word the other day but as others have said some are just a bit OTT/power mad/bullied at school/patronising.

Coppers are just people at the end of the day and people come in very many different varieties as we all know. Some coppers are temperate and experienced and know when not to bother, others will myther just because they can and then there are those who think they are above the law. You can't generalise with these things. By and large most coppers I have run across in their professional capacity have had a quiet word and sent me on my way recognising, no doubt, that what they had seen was breaking the law probably or a little bit but not necessarily inherently dangerous or "wrong". On the occasions that I have been "done" I thoroughly deserved it.

Looks they were making steady progress if you ask me! :lol:

Really don't mind the police in general (sister and a few mates are in the force) but it's when they try and talk s**t to you it does my head in. You either agree (and make their head even bigger) or they will keep interrupting your time and space. I've had it all over the years (what's with the schumaker impression etc.) but I REALLY pay attention to what I'm doing and drive within the conditions then get some moron that's done a 2 day driving course thinking they know it all.


For the record, I don't drive like either of the muppets in the link and they do deserve to be had a word with!

Rant over and looking forward to my speed awareness class in 2 weeks for doing 37mph 200 metres before it became a 40mph zone! Guess that makes me a criminal! :driving:

Speeding is a 'crime' per se the fact that you conviction is not placed on a particular database is irrelevant. Look at the accident statistics and you will find that in the majority of serious/fatal accidents a significant contributor to the accident is excess speed - for the conditions and road layout - so not necessarily breaking the speed limit at the time of the accident but not driving at a safe speed for the circumstances. However in general an individus reaction times are the same in any given set of circumstances, so it takes your brain the same amount of time to initiate an emergency stop at 30mph as it does if you are travelling at 80mph BUT at 80mph you travel a significantly greater distance before you stop than at 30mph. What speed you decide to do in any given set of circumstances is a matter of personal choice but remember when you are involved in an accident (and hopefully never) what's the first number dialled for assistance - 999 - and who comes to sort out the mess and the carnage, that'll be the cops then supported by other emergency services who all certainly have better things to do.
 
I don't think anyone here is bashing the police, I just see no justification for using multiple unmarked cars in a speed stop on a motorway that:

1. is usually standing still
2. when it is moving the flow of traffic is 80 to 85, not nutters weaving in and out.

If you want a deterrent then drive a liveried Range Rover around all day.

Considering we are strapped for cash I for one would rather have police on our streets than razzing up and down the motorway in high performance cars, we have traffic officers for that ;-)

I thought emergency services were primarily there to sort out general mess and carnage. Unless you mean better things to do as in working a second job? I'm just pulling your leg. But I do think it reasonable that people protest at the word criminal being branded about for someone with 3 points on their license. Yes it is a crime. So is illegally parking. But to be called a criminal is more commonly associated to robbers, murderers, rapists and politicians, hence why people would understandably take offence.
