Have any Z4m owners driven one of these,I have seen one advertised locally and am starting to feel temptation building.

Ye I have driven one, my dad had one for 3 years. They are a lot lazier but the power delivery never stops like a train, it has so much torque too any gear pulls aggressively in any rev. It is also very comfortable a more grown up M car, great seats but you sit a lot higher than the Z4M. The Z4M is more like a go kart, the M3 is an incredible car and that engine doesn't miss a beat. More expensive to run, would love to own both run the Z4M at the weekend and use the M3 as a daily as it has 4 seats.

At the price they are atm they are bargains.

It was a 'nice' car, but I wouldn't have one even if it was offered in 1:1 trade for my Z4.

It felt more like my old e34 M5 than the e46 M3 - which is either a good or bad thing depending on what you want out of it.

For the few weeks I had one, it was consistently returning less than 20mpg compared to the 28mpg I was getting out of the Z4M on the same runs - including a forum Welsh hoon.

I liked it's grunt over 100mph, but that's when I felt the soft-ish electronic suspension started to let it down and started to feel a bit floaty. At slower speeds the suspension smoothed out the roughness of the UK roads, but it still seemed to take a 'second' to settle itself into the corners before you'd feel confident that it'd gripped. It wasn't understeer, but just a lack of connectivity between the steering wheel & the road, so I found myself turning a fraction earlier to counteract it. It also 'felt' like a very heavy car - which it is when compared to a CSL (which is the only car I'd currently swap/trade my Z4MC for). In fact I've just seen a high-ish mileage one for sale.Initial hesitation on the throttle was offputting too, although mainly when you were trying to get out in/across a gap in traffic. You'd put your foot down, nothing would happen, you'd put it down more and then realise you weren't going to make the gap...then it would launch and you'd have to slam on!

I think most of the guys on the Welsh tour a while ago heard what I thought of it :P

I remember mmm-five was not a fan on that Welsh hoon :)

I've driven a couple on the track and road and my mate has a convertible. Great cars especially with the DCT box. The exhaust noise is fantastic with the roof down as well. Dave (roadtrip) recently bought a coupe. Biggest issue is fuel, seems hard to get much over 20mpg even on cruising runs :o

ive never been blown away by them really.... the only one id want is the GTS but thats insane money for an m3....... I did however drive a supercharged one @ simpson and i came away feeling like i want one :-)

For a V8 i think they are pretty Tq-less, my z4m-s/c is making far more Tq than one of these can muster...... the 1m however is much more me...... Absolutly LOVE them.

23k at the lowest will buy you one.

Like I said grown up is probably the best way to describe it. Not as sharp or as potent as its older brother but quite a lot faster, even than the CSL. It just effortlessly pulls away from the CSL. The electronic steering is crap tho just like all electronic steering. but EU laws means the hydraulic steering is a thing of the past.

That M3 is the 2007 model with the 6 speed trans the DCT is much better than SMG. The DCT model will give the CSL a much better run for its money and the M3 CRT has just come out which is quite a bit lighter but that is in E90 shape not the E92.

Designed for the American market need I say more. But I still love them, I would prefer one to my Z4M simply because it has more seats but I couldn't afford one as a good one is 25k+ and I would want a BMW warranty with one, so add a bit more 26k.

I love my Z4M but it is an indulgence whereas the M3 has 4 seats can take people in it. I get pissed off because when ever I want to go anywhere with people I have to take the Mini CS and wish i could be driving the Z instead. In an ideal world I would have both! :)

The E46 was double the insurance for me than the Z4M and the V8 M3 wasn't much more than the Z4M probs because the E46s are so cheap now many people are writing them off.

A white V8 M3 or Alpina B3S biturbo coupe with carbon roof to sit alongside the Roadster S would be something that would make me very happy indeed...

Tapatalking...

I'm glad I've found this thread, my sentiments exactly - My Z4M is growing on me so what would an effect would an M3 V8 have in time? - whether or not it has been bettered by a newer model...
