Weirdess thing ever, massive bulge appreared in the m25 across 2 lanes, must have just happened moments earlier as the z4 that over took us must have hit it causing a 4 car accident. Good luck explaining that highways agency!

Everybody seemed to be out their cars looking bemused, hope the z owner is ok :(

Whereabouts on the M25? It might help my plan a diversion for getting into the office in the morning.

Sorry didn't think at the time. It's literally just happened in the roadworks, which thank goodness it did otherwise I dread to think what the mess would be. It was a good 5-6" high and in lane 2 and 3 :( I think the z owner has spotted it and slammed on his brakes with 3 other cars behind rear ending. Thankfully it wasn't a motorbike it would have got some serious airtime :(

In roadworks round Juction 5-7 ?

Wonder if they hit or cracked a water main and it has burst under the road...

Shame about the Z :(

No south mimms area, about 6 miles from the end of the roadworks going north. That's what it looks like something blowing under the road. Never seen anything like it!

Looking at the RAC Website, the M25 is now closed between 23 and 25 due to an incident. Not sure if that's it or not. Said it would re-open 4.15... Now say 4.45 :(

Yes thats probably about right. No way will it be opened that quickly with the damage we saw :(

Wow - never heard of that happening before ! I hope nobody was seriously hurt on the M25, like that poor guy in Germany :(

We're very close to J25 M25 and in the past hour have heard 2 very loud explosions about half a hour apart followed by sirens. :(

That's near me.
Heard about it earlier. We were waiting for my daughter to arrive at around that time, and thankfully she wasn't caught in it.
Potters bar seems to be a bit of a "Bermuda triangle" zone, with accidents a common occurrence. Although bulging roads not so common.
Hope all involved are ok.

I've seen that happen in the Mid-Western US when temps reach around or above 45 C/114 F.

From ITV -

There are long delays on the M25 after junction 23 had to be closed due to a "ridge" forming across the clockwise carriageway.

A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said: "Engineers are at the scene working out why the road surface has become so uneven.

"A sort of ridge has formed across all three lanes of the road."

Police are advising motorists to use alternative routes and avoid the area.

It is unclear at this stage what caused the damage.

M25 approaching J23 at 21:15 today.

Andi.

Yeah, the diversion is down on to the North Circular and back out the A10. North London must be a nightmare this evening...

Monday morning rush hour will be fun then. :(

I was caught in this yesterday, at about 7pm going from jn 14 to jn 21 to get onto the M1.

It was standstill from 14, much more then the usual sunday night, so had to get the m40 instead.

Hope everyone was ok.
