Interesting comparison but I don't think I will be swapping :)

Erm that's an odd review, but lacking in details, sounds like they've cobbled together previews from other publications a do these poeple actually drive the cars

lol at the comment re steering feel - surely that's not right
 
i must admit, i drove a new CTR on an extended test drive with no intention of purchasing (the FIL is the MD of Honda in wigan) it was great to drive, but no where near as nice as the ///M135i - its just a chav car IMO.
 
I recently read the Civic type R group test in car magazine against the Megane trophy R and Golf Gti and before reading it I expected the type R to come last but it won the test so I was pleasantly surprised! its not very nice to look at and has a dodgy interior if you are used to German stuff but I do like its focus and at least its finally a quick car to live up to the sporty badge.

I always thought the older civic type R models had nice high rev engines but the reality was they weren't very fast at all which never made much sense to me.
 
Personally i prefer the styling for the 135 to (which says a lot!!) Just a shame they didnt go all out and go 4wd in the new CTR.

It's all about driver involvement, my ep3 does 0-60 in 6.5 and 146mph which is good for a 10yr old car, but the challenge in driving good roads is keeping the car in vtec which gives you instant throttle response aswell as howling engine note, sounds like a tractor at 4k but push past and it sings and then you've another 4k of powerband to play with, so using 3/4 gears you're really moving.... for an old car...

I can only imagine how good the 991 gt3 would be in that respect which revs to 9k.
To some extent that's why I love the z4m engine.

The fwd/rwd/price difference argument isn't really a true comparison, that would be like comparing 135 to rs3...
 
Well I hope the M135i is as good as everyone says as we just got rid of the wife's X4 for a new M135i... She says its dam quick so I can't wat to try it out when I get home... Only 3 weeks to wait then......

I do like how relatively light the ep3 is when compared to more modern machinery and a friend has one and he loves it and he has had it years, in fairness I should embrace the ep3 because the manual, high rev N/A engined cars are pretty much long gone now! :(

The gearbox is a belter in them too :driving:

Yes I convinced her we needed an M135i in our life's... She agreed after a little persuading haha... Now she say she not going to let me drive it

The EPAS in the current BMW range is some of the worst i've experienced. The Audi dynamic steering offering just pips it to the post for worst but certainly the Honda wouldn't really have to be blindingly great in that department to beat the BMW.

My EP3 is still one of the best cars i've owned. In terms of fond memories of driving pleasure it sits high above any German car i've ever owned.

Agreed, loved mine to bits - definitely a more fun drive than any of the current cars I have access to. It even made financial sense in that I paid £13k for a 6 month old one and sold it 6 years later for £8k. Stunning. My M135i is probably shedding more than that in depreciation a year! I'd love to buy another EP3 as a project one day, as there are plenty of chav'd up cheapies available that need returning to their former glory.

Agree and the EPAS on our 640d is that remote you sometimes wonder if its actually connected to the wheels...emissions have a lot to answer for!
 
DC5 integra type R, with a few bolt on mods, lowered and well set up is a match for most things on the road. Awesome machines!
