///M Warranty Issues

Nothing - 35K KMs

TSB on fuel pump wiring only

Gear Box is suspect, so I'll purchase an extended warranty in June. BMW Canada does not sell BMW extended warranties, however, they do offer a 3rd party through dealerships.

ive just got my renewal quote through , bmw want 951.00gbp..................... extortionate imo. but i guess i havent got any choice, i just cant run this car without warranty, ill be constantly fearing a huge bill round the corner.

Beedub,

you can knock off the assist and put a excess on it to reduce the cost. Mine's £54 per month comprehensive with a £250 excess. I figure anything goes wrong then it will cost a lot more than £250 and I won't mind paying that out if say the engine blew up. :(

sammy but the thing is what about if you only have a spring, or minor issue, your going to have to fork out the excess, arhh i think im going to just pay it and feel robbed thats my modding funds well and truely bitten into...... excellent.

ive just renewed mine via the net, fully comp, no excess, emerency assist. it was in the region on £950.00, it'll be nice to not have to worry about her for another year.

I was just thinking that these Ms feature quite heavily in this thread...then I realised the thread was in the M specific section of the forum

One Lambda sensor so far during my ownership of the car.

A new battery and a rear wheel bearing last year.

Have had an inkling that I`ve had a broken rear spring for a while and sure enough driver`s side rear had gone. Couldn`t tell handling wise, which is worrying! Only way I could tell was a metallic clanking over ridges and potholes. Apparently need rear tyres now too :x

Nav screen replaced 2 weeks ago, and today a new GPS antenna fitted.
7th time the car has been with the stealers for the Nav fault.

Conti M3s fitted on the rear for £184 each all in. Nay too bad for a main dealer?
That's quite good as it's including fitting. My local place will fit mine for £7.50 a corner, but the tyres plus delivery are £175 anyway, so it'd only be a couple of quid saving.

I know tyres go off or lose their edge after a few years (and most tyre manufactures recommend you not to use tyres that are more than 6 years old), and incorrect storage can make that 'safe' period even shorter, but I wonder if any of these tyres at dealers are 'out of date' as some of them could be from when the e46 M3 was launched :?

I've just checked mine, and whilst the rears are due to be changed, all the tyres are 3-4 years old, which means that they were all sitting in a warehouse for about 3 years before I bought them, and I bet there's some drivers who've got the original tyres on them from when the car was new (I'm on my 3rd set of rears and 2nd set of fronts).

To find out your dates, simply look at the last bit of info after the DOT label and you'll see the date of manufacturer in a border. The first 2 digits are the week, and the last digit is the year.

Mine look like this...

Offside Front - week 38 2006

Nearside Front - week 19 2006

Offside Rear - week 2 2007

Thanks for that info mmm-five I was using my old wheels on an airfield day with Andy Walsh. He took out Raify's car first and then when it came to my session we did exactly the same high speed turn and he nearly missed it - first question was "how old are these tyres?" Turns out the fronts are 2006 as I suspected, Walsh didn't have to look he knew they were old immediately by the way they refused to respond!

good info mmm-five  I'm back on my original tyres now and was mulling over replacing the backs with OEM as the fronts are still OK but I think now I'll replace the lot with Vred Ultras

Very good info mmm5, my fronts still have 5mm but maybe they should go at the same time as the rears. Will check the dates tomorrow.
