M Track Mode enabled on Z4MR

I just happened to run across Meeko's posting from August 2014 on how to enable track mode on a Z4M. Didn't even realize I had a light on the dash for DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) as it had never illuminated, even when first turning on the ignition and all the warning lights do their brief test. I immediately hooked up my computer to my 07 Z4M and enabled "TDR" in the MK60 module and it works great! Now, a brief press of the DSC button turns on the DTC light and a two second press turns on the DSC light. Thank you Meeko! :)

Hello all, is there anyone in the sw London area that could help me with this? I don't have a laptop (computer is circa ~2005!). Beer tokens available!

I'm pissed that everyone around me can do this so simply yet for me its a huge task of epic levels!

give me a spanner anyway and ill work away, electrics, wiring and coding = me completely lost.

What cable did you go for? I think I'll have to give it a try too.

the one TomK linked in the first few pages.

cost me 35 quid delivered :-) installed parallels on my mac so i can run the software from my MBP.

My thought on this would be perfect for the road where you want some more fun but not dsc off in case you have a big costly mistake. On the track I just turn dsc off in all conditions to enjoy the car. Why would this M mode be better on the track ?

Because you could have a big costly mistake as much on a track as you could on the road presumably....

Yea true. For me I am slowly becoming a better driver on track driving without any aids. I do fall off now and then of course, but I get a big sense of achievement catching a slide myself, rather than the lighting quick computer taking over. I guess it depends on how much room you have to play. If it only kicks in when you about to do a 360 then it might be just the thing.

In my experience the DSC will not save you from a spin when you have to do an emergency manoeuvre in the wet :|

I tend to leave it on in the wet, and turn it off in the dry - and those slightly wider 265 PSS on the rear help.

going to need to get a windows laptop, not happy with how the program runs on parallels , glad i only tried the trial before i went for the hole hog, parallels is slow and clunky.

got hold of an old one from work, about to start again.... this one has vista.

just booting it up and giving it a good clean, it hasn't been used for years, lol, so many updates to instal but its running fast, so this one should do the trick.

ill keep it for coding only from now on.

one last thing guys, is the e85/86 Kcan or Dcan ... both seem to cover the 2007 model year.... ones for Upto 2007 then Dcan is 2007+

well software is all loaded up... after about 3 hours ;-P

so I'm about to go outside to the garage and have a go..... this to me is complicated s**t. lol!!

Edit; too cold in the garage, other things on my mind, tomorrow is proposal day for wifey :driving: :driving: taking her to the cotswolds so ill have to come back to this next week i think, everything is successfully loaded to the laptop so its a case of trying to understand the coding process itself, so it will give me a few days to swot up on the process.
