M Track Mode enabled on Z4MR

Glader60,

Seems you're doing everything correct. I can only say perhaps it's an issue with an older version of NCS Expert or older daten files. If you want to send me your NETTODAT.TRC read from the mk60 module I'll be happy to edit it to enable TDR. That way you can bypass the datens and write it straight to the MK60 module.

Regards,

Meeko
I was using DATEN files v45 so upgraded to v53.3 and was able to enable TDR. Now the DTC light comes on with a single button press of the DSC button. Many thanks goes out to Meeko for posting this valuable information to enable this mode. Now I need to experiment with the new mode and determine how it intervenes.

Hello all, good thread and thanks to all contributors for taking the time to post up the information.

The DSC has been something on my ///MR that has always annoyed me. I find it way too intrusive.

When powering out of corners with some steering lock on, it almost always heavily moderates any command for high power and then eventually feeds the power back in far too slowly and late for my liking.

I am reluctant to switch it off on the road as DSC can pay dividends, especially when the speeds are high and everything can happen very quickly.

So I have just successfully coded this option and will report back with my findings.

Loving the indian summer but I now have a reason to look forward to a bit of rain. :D

Anyone near to SE London / NW Kent area who wants a hand enabling this on an ///M, give me a shout.

UPDATE:

Gave it some beans in hot, dry conditions today and it is a lot better. The DSC still cuts in and IMO is not ideal but it seems to allow the rear wheels to "spin" a little and the LSD to lock up without cutting the power like before

So far, I am very impressed with this "mod".

Interested to see how it is in other road conditions.

UPDATE:

Have been driving with this for a few weeks ago and I am loving it. :driving:

In the wet, it makes a big difference meaning you are able to get the power down, especially feeding power in after the apex much better than before.

Dont suppose anyone has done the shift lights programming as well? Another from the M3, but dont see why it cant be done :D

I don't think this would be possible on the Z4M because of the different engine management to the E46.

The MSS70 used in the Z4M was never used in conjunction with the SMG gearbox. It was the E46 SMG gearbox variants which had the shift light function.

any one you guys near the midlands or willing to travel id happily pay for this feature :-) and your travel expense :-) i could really use this on my car!!

Sorry to not having seen this thread until now.
You guys managed a way to get the m-track mode.
I am the german guy who has it for a good while now.

Excellent. Thank you very much for finding out how to make it possible and furthermore for sharing the information.

Makes the car sooo much better and in my opinion is how the DSC should have been.

Is it possible to get the values for all the settings for all the parameters of the MK60 module your friend programed? Or can you read your MK60 module and post the results?

Connect the cable to your car's OBD port and turn on the ignition...
1. Load NCS Expert.
2. Load an ExpertMode profile with Manipulation enabled.
3. Hit “FG/ZCS/FA” - might be "VIN/ZCS/FA" depeding on your NCS Expert version
4. Press “ZCS/FA f. ECU”
5. Select E85 in the box that pops up
6. Click OK with AKMB highlighted
7. FG and FA field will populate after a few seconds
8. Press Back
9. Click “Process ECU”, highlight the MK60 module and click OK
10. Change CBD-Name MK60.C10 to MK60.C20 and Click OK
11. Click "Change Job" and choose CODIERDATEN_LESEN
12. Click “Execute Job”
13. Browse to C:\NCSEXPER\WORK
14. Look for FSW_PSW.TRC and open it in notepad.

Look for:

TDR
nicht_aktiv

and delete the nicht_ leaving just aktiv

15. Save the file as “FSW_PSW.MAN” - (make sure it's not called FSW_PSW.MAN.TXT)
16. Click "Change Job" and choose SG_CODIEREN
17. Click "Execute Job"

NCS will then code your car and you should see "Coding Ended". Then turn your iginition off/on and pressing DSC will enable the DTC lamp (M Track Mode) and holding will disable DSC altogether.

There are lots of guides online which explain using NCS Expert in more detail, and it might be a good idea to read these and get more familiar before you attempt this yourself.

Bumping the thread back to life lol

I just attempted to code mine and like someone else in this thread I got stuck at step 10. I have ncs expert 4.01 and daten files 50.2. Am I editing step 10 in the actual ncs expert itself or...? Cheers

You're very welcome! Report back on your experience with it. I wish there was a way to set it on by default!

Finally got around to coding my car today to get rid of a few annoyances, also coded the m-track mode whilst there (thanks meeko!)...Just been doing a few 'test' runs, it's great, why they didn't enable it on the car in the first place I'll never know. I usually drive my car with dsc off as I find it far too nannying in it's default mode, in the wet on roads I'll most definitely be using the m-track mode now.

Ooooooo - now *this* is interesting...!

What we need is a list of the "where's" of folks who can do this and how many beer tokens needed to get it done.

I'm IN if anyone who can do this is heading to Oulton Park anytime... (I live 2 miles away) so happy to meet you there and cross your palm with silver... Equally happy to meet up with someone within a radius of 4 hours of Cheshire to get this done... :D
