Not too much I believe, just take the battery off wait 15 mins, remove the airbag and then steering wheel, remove the old silver paddles and replace with new style paddles, steering wheel back on, airbag back on and then reconnect the battery.

I believe parts are around £400 if it's something you fancy doing.

Couple of topics but no how to, but I'm sure I've actually seen it somewhere either on here or the American sites. Couple of lads on here have made the change, I'm sure they could assist in terms of advising what they did.

Might look to sell the ///M towards the end of next summer. Love the ///M in every way, other than it's look a little dated now and the E89 is really growing on me now.

How are the seats in the E89, supportive? Look like they've been lifted out a 1 series? wonder if you can retro fit E85 ///M seats...

I've had both types. Im afraid that the action and feel if the old paddles is crap IMHO. The new ones have a sharper action.

Yep can confirm that is correct.

I haven't come accross a better gear box quick and smooth as silk. My only gripe is why when selecting drive is the stick moved back and for reverse forward. Surely the opposit would be more logical?

The seats are much better in the E89, they have adjustable side bolsters operated by a small switch on the seat base, lots of adjustment to grip you tight, or not, as standard. The bolsters in the sports seats in the E85 are spaced too far apart and give very little support. If specced from new some E89's have adjustable lumbar and seat bases, but I don't think this is very common.
 
Fitted out of a 1 series? You've clearly never been in a 1 series or have seen the seats in a E89 up close. Nothing like the standard or sports seats in a 1 series but depending on how the seats are shown if it's just the bolsters and mid section then I can see why you think that as the pumped up bolsters of a 1 series can look similar.

The headrest is also intergrated into the seat like the E85/E86. Really nice seats and as John says if they are electric seats with memory and lumber support they are great. I love the side bolster support, you can make them as loose or as tight as you want :thumbsup:

Had a 1 series though and you could pump the bolsters up, so maybe i wasn't so far off :P :P Base bolster doesn't though and looks very flat for thigh support.

Joking aside, I'll need to try them, ///M seats are fantastic, looks really special. Had standard sport seats in my first Z4 and they were awful.

I just looked at pics of my E89 vs the pics of my E88 for sale and I could see why people may think from the same angle that they are the same seats.

They are great seats.........the current M4 seats are stonking! I'd actually love to have them in my E89, the convertible also has the same kind of airscarf system the merc use.

If you go E89 35i or is variant then electric memory sports seats are standard but lumber support is an optional extra and maybe not a must but a really nice 'nice to have option' it can really make the difference especially when using the car on a long journey.
 
Some cracking info in here, all. Particularly that video in the tunnel... surely that's not stock? So many bangs on change?!

I'll need to watch that one again. On the noise from the exhaust it is loud. It does pop and bang beautifully especially if you have to go down the gears suddenly.

Put it this way my other half has an R32 GTR which is pretty loud, I started both and he was only woken by the 35 thinking someone was nicking it. Dropped him at work at 5am one morning and he text me to say I know your home, I heard you drive all the way back. To be fair it was only a few mins drive straight up the road but still. I've also had lots of folk telling me they heard me before the saw me, it does get people looking like where is that coming from. They don't expect the noise from this car.

One of the big things is noise for me. Glad to hear it shouldn't disappoint!

That's your opinion of course. The feel is irrelevant to me, the ability to use either hand at any point in a turn is far more beneficial to me. Also just my opinion of course.

yes, I'd say stock but 'golf tee mod' as you can hear the grumble when trundling off throttle to the tunnel entrance. 35is exhaust is nice.
 
had both well still got the 35is don't think I will get shut of it it is an all rounder smooth very fast and a nice drive with a great sounding exhaust
