Called my local main stealer for an oil service price. £199 was the response. Asked for price if I supplied my own oil. £85 something. Told to bring 7L of 0W30 with me.

Queried this as the car only holds 5.5L, but told need to bring 7L

Anyway the 0W30 threw me thinking it was like LL04 so went to opine and saw 10W60 which of course jogged my memory they were talking grade. Because it was wrong I hadn't clicked what he meant.

Anyway called dealer back and confirmed my thoughts that they were still looking at my old car (5 years ago sold).

So new prices given £199 sales as above or £115 if I supply my own oil :? 8) WTF?

To me it looks like they are removing the cost of oil to them, with the N52 using 1L more. Their price works out around £20 per litre.

Either way £85-115 for labour to Carry out a oil change is crazy.

Brake fluid change for both is £67 and I would think more labour involved in that job .

Take in the 7 litres and agree the £85 deal, then we you collect the car ask for the surplus 1.5L back that they couldn't squeeze in...
Simples

Too late, but could have been worth a try.

Is a worry though, what if they had put the wrong oil in, Hope the tech would know though

DIY, I always do my own oil and filter changes, I know it's been done correctly

Moe then capable, but service history at this point is still key.

Just waiting for the price from an indi at present.

I THINK Walkers charge me £149 +VAT for an oil change. They supplied the oil

If they are charging that then my local main dealer is as cheap. Will cost me £20 in fuel to get to Walkers.

Yep nothing in it really.
Walkers is nearer to me than my preferred dealer. BMW three bridges aren't allowed near our cars, and now I don't have a BMW warranty I have no need to take them to BMW so I can't justify a trip to Redhill.

It is so worrying , definitely. For my inspection 1 last time , I got told to collect later that day which I thought was odd. Got a call at the end of the day saying it would have to stay over night ... they didn't realise it was an M when booking in and thus needing s cold engine for the shin check.

It goes across marqués though. My brother took a brand new polo gti in, ad after 5k Miles the turbo was making s bad noise. He got told by the tech ... that the car didn't have a turbo, so how could it be that? The car ... is a 1.8t. Unreal that they don't know what they are working on. (New turbo under warranty by the way! Ouch). As a side , ridiculously they charged him more than us for an oil change too.
