M tailgaters :/

Since upgrading from a 3.0si to an M I've noticed I pretty much constantly get tailgated but all sorts of cars from the usual boy racers in their Corsa's to rep mobile man to basically anyone, actually kinda annoying now! Usually I'm just keeping to myself, sometimes I almost feel as if they need blasting off, either way it's annoying! Anyone else noticed this or just me in Reading area?
 
Hahahaha, i was thinking the same thing the other day, since i upgraded from my 3.0 to my //M, i haven't had anyone try to race me or drive up my backside like a tit. I'm guessing londoners don't like to mess with an //M :D :driving:
 
I'm ignoring them - especially those trying to provoke me to race. Nothing's funnier then switching lanes to let them pass :)
 
After moving from the M to the 911, I get the strangest "issue" - it is truck drivers that try to cut in front of me in slow traffic.

Not getting any other tailgaters - with my soft tyres they are getting rather a lot of stones thrown at them from the UK roads so they fall back rather quickly.
 
From some of the posts on this forum watch out they're not the plod provoking you into making a move!

Was out with two other forum members on Wednesday when an unmarked police car slid up behind our column on a fast open straight road. Nothing gained from speeding on such a road so we waved the car on to find it was indeed the plod! Beware!

Very good point! usually unmarked skoda VRS, BMW 5 series, I am always careful when such cars tailgate.

onto OPs point, agree there are usually some morons that tailgate - usually boy racers in corsas, polos, last one was a Golf GTI mK4 :P
 
Not experienced this at at all... Though I had an e46 M3 convertable in front of me with his roof down through town the other day who was driving in a manner designed to attract attention so I joined in for a laugh. Seemed a bit peeved to discover me keeping up and - IMO - sounding a lot better :P
 
^your car is almost 350kg(!!) lighter, so that's no surprise for me :)

I think tailgaters are quite amusing, especially on small quiet roads with lots of roundabouts.

I sometimes wait them up after 2-3 roundabouts when they lost sight, and the game begins again :lol:

Apparently the way to combat it is to ever so slightly touch the brake not so it slows the car but the brake lights come on… soon wakes the tailgaters up.

So annoying I know what you mean.
 
Hmm, not to sure about that one as you will get Mrs RoadRage behind you ...

The last time I did that sort of thing in anger to a tailgater, though I actually braked very briefly, the driver behind responded by overtaking at the next opportunity on the M4, sat between lanes and then performed pretty much a 4 second emergency stop. I ended up writing off my car ; he just drove off. The policeman who attended understood why I did what I did, but advised never doing it again. Just get out the way ASAP.
 
Agreed Bing. It's dangerous and just risks escalating a situation needlessly. I am amazed that was given as official advice. Just indicate and let them past and let them bug someone else.
 
I find people in jeeps and vans like to tailgate the Z4, probably because they can see over it so think it is a safe way to drive
 
Depending upon road conditions and traffic, I sometimes use my rear foglight(s) to signal when they are that close - it gives them the message without reducing speed. . .
