Hi does anybody know if the starter motor for M is different to the rest of the 2.5 and 3.0 models. I'm getting conflicting information and prices.

Also has anyone changed one on the M.?

Thanks

How old is your zm?
Do we have a thread that covers lifespan for m components?
My zed is approaching 10yrs so I'm half expecting some of the parts like starter/alternator etc to start going soon, would it be a reasonable comparison to look at e46m bits as a comparison?

Check the part numbers on realoem.com that will confirm for you.

Thanks for that. Useful site

did you change the starter? i think mine needs 1 urghhhhhhhhh  :headbang:

Yeah I changed the starter motor and the ignition switch. Starter was about £75 and the ignition switch was about £20. Fitted them myself and it was quite easy.

What are your symptoms Pete?

when the car gets hot the starter does not engage - if i take it out and it warms up then i can't risk turning it off and restarting it
