M-Sport vs Non M-Sport

I changed the tyres on my Zed 3.0 to non runflats and found them much better
I had a Mini Cooper S with runflats and it was awful, such a hard uncomfortable ride , felt every little bump and tramlined terribly, so that didn't stay around for long. My Z4 seems like a limousine in comparasion

I deleted the msport suspention from my 2.0 order last year, best thing I ever did! I live in the country with bad pot holed roads.

I think thats the crux of it, if you do mainly motorway miles, smooth roads etc its not too much of an issue but like yourself in the sticks then it becomes a bane, its the main aspect of the Zed I don't miss at all.

not sure about everyone else but i have to put my 35is in sport+ mode as in any other setting the suspension seems too soft, especially when going over speed bumps..... even in sport+ i feel it needs to be a touch harder

I wanted a sporty looking motor to have a sporty feel to it - i didn't want a vauxhall vectra feel to it!

You can with adaptive which is spot on and takes away the crashiness and suspension harshness

How many have adaptive suspension ? I know the 35is as it as standard, is it a big improvement? and worth he extra cost.

Not on my M sport Tim.
It's standard M sport suspension and I don't find it harsh nor crashy !
My earlier post I say that it's not as harsh as my earlier E85

I don't aim for potholes tho !

Afraid I disagree on that one, I found the standard M Sport suspension on 18s harsh and crashy and not exactly sporty, the adaptive I find makes the world of difference and improves handling, the adaptive isn't simply about making the car more comfortable. I think that alot of E89 owners who move away from runflats do so to improve ride quality. Of course it what you like at the end of day. some prefer a rock hard ride others a more comfortable ride that isn't compromised in relation to handling.

If BMW didn't do the M Adaptive suspension I doub't I would have stuck with the brand.

Come on now Tim you didnt do many miles to get a very balanced opinion did you ?
Any long runs weekends away etc..?

Although mine is a boys toy used in the summer, I've done motorway, country roads , towns and cities All in UK and Europe so I do feel qualified to make a valid and balanced opinion,

Am I wrong in thinking that the sport button only stiffens steering, increases throttle response, and holds the revs higher. Didn't think the suspension stiffens!? :|

Lol plenty thanks during the summer more than enough to get a balanced view  How many miles do you need to cover to determine a crap ride lol Try a BMW with Adaptive and you will see what I mean. I'm not criticising the Zed, my previous 1 Series M Sport was worse  When speccing the M135i adaptive was the first box I ticked. Its so much nicer not worrying about potholes or broken road surfaces and clenching the buttocks

I'm happy that your happy with your ride :D

I think thats correct Steve, only alters steering and throttle response between Comfort and Sport. The M adaptive Suspension alters suspension characteristics by minus/plus 20% I think so in Comfort its 20% less harsh than standard M Sport and in Sport 20% tauter than standard M Sport Suspension.

In combination with adaptive suspension the sport button endows the Z4 with, and I quote from the BMW web site, "a far more athletic setting".

I'm sure if or when I get another zed it will have adaptive suspension.
In the mean time M sport is in my opinion is a very good compromise.

Ie days out in the UK and on German holidays inc high speed Autobahn runs.
