M-sport suspension

What is it what does it do and how much did it cost if anything in 2004,just found i have it from the BMW site where you put in your vin and get all specs as it left factory. Thanks in adavance for your knowledgable replies and Merry Christmas to all who read this, Steve

M sport suspension gives better road holding and better handling but is a lot harder 'sportier', less role etc. The M sport models come with it in the kit but there is a box to tick 'delete sports suspension'. But not many do.

M sport suspension is renowned for being firmer on UK roads, some love it some hate it. Its a pet hate of Mr Clarkson... but who gives a SH1T about what he thinks he's an oaf.

Just having a few problems with my Z4M so its back in the garage for a few days, I have been given a 61 plate 320d SE auto and the ride is sublime compared to the H&R spring in my Z4M but then its like a boat in the corners BRRRRRRR BRRRRRR!!! haha

Would have the bone shaker every time

M Sport suspension back in 04 was standard equipment on the 3.0SE and optional on the 2.2 & 2.5 IRRC it was about £300.
It is 15mm lower than the standard suspension with I beleive slightly stiffer springs and dampers.

I agree Mr Clarkson is a massive douche, but I also think that M suspension is over the top in terms of its rigidity. My 3.0i is the worst riding car Ive had...

The firmer suspension scares me when it tramlines going over a flyover in Cardiff. You're quite high up with not a lot to stop you going over the barrier. Pr'aps that's why it's a 30 zone

Have to agree with this!
My Zed is coming home this week after a scratch touch-up.

I've had a Merc A-class this week - it doesn't even seem to acknowledge pot-holes!
My teeth don't clatter when driving down B-roads!

Can't wait for the Z to come home! 8)

Yep speed humps are not a problem sails over them, pot holes?? Britain has pot holes!? not in the SE even with run flats I am beyond impressed. I hate autos and SEs generally because the way the SE looks and the way autos sound. But the auto has been great just a normal one with no tip, it kicks down exactly when you want and its is so comfortable. Always bought M sports because of the way they look but now understand why BMW sells so many SEs. With the Z4M I slow to the point of crawling over bumps and its still very very uncomfortable but I do have lowering springs and its what you expect from a sports car. Would still buy the M sport tho every time in the corners the SE is not good... especially when you don't expect so much body roll.

Its also where you sit in the Z as you sit just infront of the rear axel giving a harder ride compared to say an M3, where it is better with less skittish behaviour over uneven surfaces. Although as a kid being in the back of an M3 most of my life im quite used to the ride so slipping into the Z4M is like an old glove! lol
