M Sport steering wheel with Multi Function

Lower cowl is a single torx screw and you need to undo the column locking lever and wriggle it off.

Instrument is a single torz under the top face. Wriggle it out towards the column.
LCM is the light control module which is really just the back of the light switch. Once the cluster is out you can get to the big connector plug on it. Unclip and see if the correct wires are in place. Awkward to reach into with the wheel, so you may as well take it off again for the 10 mins it will take.
 
Ok - thanks, I'll have to wait until next weekend now I think - family duties will start again soon once my baby daughter wakes up from her nap! Hopefully my next post will be 'and its done!' - I think you mentioned in another post that the loom part is only £5 (B61.12.0.394.848 at £4.94) - so I may order one anyway before I take anything apart.
 
I'm not checking, but am sure you'll have looked up the right part number. The dealer may say it's not available but it is and as an order from Germany, so expect a few days delivery. IIRC they have to look it up on a separate system, but with the part number you're a step ahead.

Frankly I'd check it first beofre waiting and accept no responsibility if it's already in place :wink:

My tinkering has stopped too, as I'm being dragged off to the shops :thumbsdown:
