M sport steering wheel v Royals upgrade

Seriously considering buying an M sport wheel from a German eBay site. Before I spend a decent chunk of cash, just want to check what the differences are from anyone who has done it. I currently have the Royals steering wheel, which is pretty good but not the one I think I really want. I haven't felt an M one personally.

I've got a standard wheel re trimmed by royals in my E85 and a M wheel in the E86. The M wheel is a lot thicker, I actually prefer it. If it was trimmed the same as my royals wheel it would be perfect.

Thats the ideal combo. A M sport AND a royals retrim on it. If you can find a M sport one where the leather is screwed for a cheaper price and offset the cost of a royals retrim, it would be pretty special. I would imagine you would be looking at the bezt part of £500 all in though (around £350 for the wheel and £150 for the retrim)

As Mark mentioned I've gone from Royals to an M wheel.
I wouldn't have made the move if I hadn't previously had an M Sport wheel in my first Zed.
I suppose what I'm saying is that the Royal refurb is an excellent way of beefing up the standard wheel and its a very high quality product, but its not an M wheel.
I was lucky enough to buy an immaculate Tri-coloured M wheel for £200 off a forum member, otherwise I'd still be using my Royals.

I like that a lot! I now need to get a M sport wheel for my E85!

This forum is starting to cost me so much money.

I found the m sport wheel in my coupe to be too thick for my stubby little fingers, much prefer my none m wheel i have in my 85 :driving:

Agree with ScoobaSteve - it's your primary contact with the car, most of the 'driving experience' comes through the steering wheel :driving:

My thoughts exactly  in my Disco I clean steering wheel every week with leather wipes, it looks just as good as the day I bought it.

I've just made the leap from a Royals refurb to the m sport as well. Defiantly prefer the extra width of the m sport. I think the m sport is about 11cm circumference as compared to the double padded royals refurb at about 10. Not sure what the standard wheel is. That extra cm makes a huge difference!

that looks really nice. No need to compromise between having either an M or a royals, you've got both
I may get my original wheel re-trimmed with the silver/grey stitching like yours if I don't see an M wheel coming up at a reasonable price.

I changed my wheel to a Royal trimmed Nappa E46 M3 wheel

Much prefer it over the Z4 design, from memory the Z4 M wheels is a similar thickness too, just a slightly smaller diameter of the actual wheel
