M Sport Rear Bumper on 2004 Z4

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if this would fit on my 2004 2.2 Z4? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E85-86-MZ4-Coupe-M-Sport-Rear-Bumper-Skin_W0QQitemZ370274980031QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item56361bd0bf

Is there anything I need to look out for? Obviously it would need respraying red for my car.... but any other help would be great :)

It won't fit for many reasons - the light profile is different pre and post facelift the undertray is designed to match up tho the diffuser on the ///M and not the battery box on the standard of course the extra exhaust outlet needs filling with a quad pipe.

Good news is it matches the rear wing and boot lip profile perfectly

Of course it can be fitted with a fair bit of bodyshop work

I have been really tempted by a Hayword and Scott exhaust system but I need to work out how I'm going to get the quad exhaust working on my standard Z4... Any ideas anyone?

The guys from H&S said it might be possible to do it but they have to view the car and I live a good hour away from them? Any advice or suggestions would be great!!!!

There are several aftermarket companies that make a system that simply replaces the rear box and adds a pipe across the inside of the rear bumper to exit on the RHS. When I was contemplating it many suggested not to do this as the system won't 'steam' evenly, so looks odd.

I went the full monty converting to a custom sustem and ///M boxes but that entailed chopping down the battery box and a bit more work.

We'll see

No... I'm getting one of the "cheat" T-Pipe systems.

From where? The MStyle one?

No I've gone Eisenmann, through A-L Tuning who are fitting also. They have a body shop to do the bumper - finish will be symmetrical to LHS, I'm informed. System is being ordered and hand built in Germany so a good month away from fitting. I'm working on some other bits for the car too so was going to start a separate thread with my findings. I will definitely take some steam pics. MStyle or single box would have been the more sensible option as this is money I won't see back. If I had skills (and confidence) I do something similar to CJ.

Bring the noise!

Sounds good to me Pawnsacrifice
Make sure the bodyshop do something about the profiling on the bumper above the new cutout so it looks neat and not just left part finished. you can be sure I'll inspect it when done :poke:

Talking of steaming - I was way childish with a car close to me this morning in the cold just gently blipping the throttle to watch the steam and vapour rise in front of the following cars lights as we crawled along then leave him in a vapour trail on 'green'

I'm off to Kwik Fit to photograph the underside of my Z4 haha.... Hopefully H&S are going to view the pictures and give me a similar set up as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE2d-K842ko

Ha, I'd expect nothing less! Mike at A-L Tuning was very reassuring about the effort that goes into getting that right. I hope so.

Peddy, to be honest I hadn't heard of Eisenmann until I joined the forum (how many purchases started with that!) anyway opinion seemed to be "Eisenmann are great, but at a price", sure I read that a couple times. Started researching and the systems looked really good. I've looked at quite a few clips and they all sounded really good - like a stock sports system rather than aftermarket. I know online video clips can be very misleading. The exhausts are hand made to order and IMO look very well engineered / finished. I spoke to the factory in Germany and they were very helpful going through the products and my options re-outlets and sound. Information then independently confirmed by Mike.

I think what sealed it, A-L Tuning (BTW, one half of the team who worked on the red Z4M "CSL") are doing a discount on the parts and labour until the end of February. It's still a lot more than MStyle, but every now and then it's nice to just make an emotional decision :)

Short answer... I'm just a sucker for good marketing!

Hopefully I'm not going to be disappointed. Long wait now though.

As for MStyle - certainly nothing against them and it may well produce the same result, but it was possibly the fact that one of the guys there sent you a pic of the Eisenmann system!

I can post some underside pictures of my set up while it was on a ramp if it helps?

Just wanted your take on them and I agree with you...

I've not spoken to A-L Tuning yet, but from feedback from forum members they seem to be very professional and happy to help with any queries, etc. MStyle were the opposite... short and useless replies to my emails.... plus the photo you mentioned made me steer clear of them.
