M Sport Leather seats....

Hi,

I have the above seats in my 2.5si Sport.

The car is only 18 months old and the leatehr is fine.

My concern is that everytime I get in , because the side bolsters are so pronounced, I rub against them when I jump in and out the car, which is quite a lot in one day. Now I am sure this is normal but I am concerned that all this rubbing will lead to too much wear and tear.

Any tips?

I try to lower in with both legs out, then when seated swing my legs in.
That way I don't side over the bolster.
... no wear so far in 18months.

If it'll make you sleep better, I offer to swap you my regular leatherette seats. They wear quite well.

Try diving in head first! Or get a roadster, and build a hoist to lower you in from the top!

You always get the best advice from the UK :)

The bolsters on my TVR wore through, mostly because I and the previous owners had to contort ourselves to get out when it was parked in a garage. However, the leather can be repaired or replaced by any competent automotive upholsterer, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I've seen Maseratis for sale with bolster wear too. There's not much you can do about it.

my side bolsters are almost smooth because of wear and at places they are cracked. granted my car only has 34445 miles on it and i am the second owner.

quick question.. ive noticed the z4m seats are smooth leather. and our M sport seats are textured..do we have dakota or nappa leather? which is better?

G'day, I have the M sport seats in my 2.5si and what I do, is move my seat back when I get out of the car. As the seats are programmable, I set button 3 for the full travel back, and button 1 for my normal seating position. But then, I'm not using this car everyday, but I find that this helps with entry and egress. In terms of physically getting out of the car, I tend to swivel so that my right leg goes first, then my left leg then I haul myself out. Bit of a bugger when some d*ckhead parks too close to the drivers door that you have to contort yourself into an odd position to get in or out of your car. But hey, all good fun. Had a damn fine drive on Sunday here in Canberra, lovely weather, roof down, some damn fine music you wouldn't be dead for quids.

Oh by the way, this is my first post and nope, I have no pics of my beast (or my car). :)
