m side gills

seen mentioned a few times about the lack of side gills on the M, wondered if anyone had a serious attempt at some, remember ac schnitzer did some but it may have been on a z3. ...anyway today i had an idea, saw the v8 m3 , you know the e?, they have a lovely gill with a hole, wondered if a good body man could cut the whole area around the gillfrom the m3 wing and "let " it into a 4m wing,maybe incorporating the hole where our side repeater hole is, havent done any measuring yet, any good photoshoppers here, yes and i hate to think of the price of m3 wings to cannibalise, or i guess just buy :wink: the m3 gills and alter the 4m wing to suit. think about it, anything can be done. any ideas
 
I think that looks so wrong!

I actually like the indicators on the z4. Shame they never kept that style for the e89.

As above, looks wrong.

Doenst help the fact its not in the centre of the hole, but far enough off centre to look deliberate.

Looks like it is surpoosed to follow the line in the panel

hmmm , yes along those lines and not a bad attempt to be fair , but problem there is that its pretty obvious that the hole is supposed to have the side repeater in so looks wrong, i was thinking much more of cutting the whole section out and letting it into the z wing but would depend on how it would break up the diagonal bodyline of the z, maybe leave to bm stylers to sort out , just a thought :tumbleweed:
 
It doesn't look finished! Love the wheels though. What are they called?

Oh dear, that's bloody awful!
I'd like to see a photoshop version without the side repeater hole though.
 
Looks terrible,the indicator badges are part of the wing design,then again you could always remove the windscreen etc :D
 
The Schnitzers might be an option?

neither ACS or this home made version look any good. Its unbelieable that BMW could not be bothered to make the M version of the Z4 coupe stand out and carry on one of the key design features as in the Z3. Ones on the Z4 factory race cars look great but require the entire body kit (200K anyone). AC Schnitzer did a fantastic interpretation of the Z8's old opredecessor in their "Profile" concept car but never put it in production available as a kit (though I'm sure you can ask ACS to buid you a Profile if you have the budget).



 
Just come accross this, very subtle and apparently functional vent mod ...

If you put the m3 led flasher strip centre vertical cutting the vent in half and leading end alighned to the front, that might actually be quite nice...

Anyone care to give that a go :thumbsup:

I think this was a DIY job, will try and find the link but it wasn't on zpost or bimmerforums...
