M Servicing Query

With the milage I don't think its something that would overly concern me.

I left my car to have its Xenon replaced and they pressure washed it :headbang:

Because of the winter it wasn't cleaned as much and I came to wash it two-three weeks later and the paint is lifting and bubbled at the bottom of the front bumper. Bloody livid! unfortunately I can't blame them as I can't prove it so it will be going in for a respray when the weather improves. Least it will look nice and new.

Eastern

My dad bought an M3 from them, at the time (think they have moved showroom now) but it was a long elongated garage slightly underground and when getting it out they crashed it into a wall. Just before we picked it up, pick up was put back two weeks for no reason when we went to pick it up you should have seen the mess of the rear bumper after they had 'fixed' it! They hadn't painted it the same colour it wasn't metallic disgrace! Like Matte… just awful so he rejected it the car was £37k too. Worst BMW experience we ever had.

Today has not been a good day. It started well, and I had high hopes of getting my car back with a clean bill of health and a fully stamped service book.

At least the service history will be ok. That's the only positive I've taken from today.

The health check revealed a number of issues with the car which were impossible to spot when buying, and which aren't covered under warranty.

I'm so disappointed. Rear brakes need done, buckled rear CSL and diff leak.

Don't ask me how much. I might actually cry

On the plus side, I get the car back tomorrow with a clean bill of health.

Sorry to hear that Adamski, but look at it this way. Once the work has been done you'll have a solid gold MC you'll not need to worry about

I'll look forward to driving it next year when I can afford fuel again  :(

Believe me, you'll be doing well if that's all that's wrong! Angus328's brother bought an M3, it blew up on the way home from a dodgy garage!

It could be worse, and as Inkey say, you'll have a cracker once the bits are sorted.. Chin up

Thankfully nothing else has been uncovered. At least my mind will be at rest once it's all done.

It's always a gamble buying a car privately, I've had a good run so far.

Cost aside - it's still a beauty.

Worth every penny ;)

That's it Adam, you can never spot everything. I've had my SI a year and have spent over 1k on it , and inspection 2 is within the next week or two! Just general wear and tare on mine I guess though. But I'm nearly there and when I am I either have a hopefully sound car, or a car which I can sell with the best of knowledge than mechanicals are OK.

Ouch! I was going to say this morning that they *might* find some issues with the car........I don't think I've ever had a car into Eastern where they have said you need this done, that done etc always something  :headbang:

Didn't want to temp fate. Did they not give you an idea of the cost? They usually do and they usually stick to it or bring it in cheaper. At least it should be all nice and sorted

They sent me a video showing the wheel buckle and also the diff leak, so at least I know they're not trying it on.

They costed it down to the penny and have taken 15% off the cost of labour on the brakes and pads and discounted the parts 10% - they took pity on me!!

I am always nervous with the cars at the dealers :(

Why is the diff leak not covered by warranty?

Sorry to hear that. Is it a seal on the diff? These things crop up. No point in worrying it will be spot on when it's all sorted!

That's good re the video.

As for the discount........ That's standard for any BMW over 4 years old. It's to and try and keep customers using them instead of indys but always sounds good to customers who are not aware of this 4plus offer.
