M seats project

Have you gotten her to sit in your RED seats with her RED skirt?

A real sense of ADVENTURE reading your seat replacement project ! Nice clean job ! I vote for staying with the Black door panels - a nice difference to the factory order colors. I like the whole look with your hardtop too! How about the Red leather/Black base Armrest and Red or Black Door pads from Leather Z -

Nice job!

Best!

Thanks for the supporting comments guys - appreciated

Jack you could be onto something, not the girl sitting in my passenger seat - too expensive if my wife saw..., but with with Leather Z. I'm not keen on the central armrest, but the door padding strip could work - thanks for the lead.

I think most of us this side of the pond aren't too keen on the armrest, but I reckon the side pads will look really great, giving more of an OEM look but without having to upgrade the door trims. I reckon we'll see them on before long

Yep - bluetooth next, then the side pads, then...have you seen the aerokit in the for-sale section

Hmm, he did buy a hoist for in the garage. I think we can expect the aerokit to hang from that whilst we get a 5 minute education in a diy spray job :D

Nice try guys - see my latest post as I creep towards 500 posts (OMG) I've almost drawn a line under it....

what ebay advert???

I was just looking at the manual base mount (1st picture), and noticed there are 4 adjustment levers? I didnt know the one on the bottom exist, I took a quick look under the seat on my car, I coudlnt find it.. ? Should that 4th bottom lever be standard on all manual seats?

The front lever ratchets up and down the front edge of the seat base to give more (or less) support tothe lower thigh behind the knee.

Those seats are 2003 3.0i UK, so perhaps there are variations by market, model and/or year?

I didn't know you could get manual seats in a Z? I thought they were all electric in the UK

Looks good!

mikedav - of course you can get manual seats in the UK. I'm would have thought the majority were manual and certainly 2 I looked at in a dealers the other week were as was a second hand ///M

This project was about retrobuilding manual ///M seats into my electric memory bases to create something specific that I wanted.

For the record, all E46 Coupes in the UK had electric seats as standard (I think for life, but definitely post 03); manual seats were available outside the UK, but not here. BMW GB in Bracknell decide what the UK specification levels will be on all new models, and omitted manual seats, though they did come on some of the saloons / estates. I assumed it would be the same for the Z4.

I was only speaking for the Z4. My assumption woudl be under the guise of reduced weight / sports car they fit manual where possible and they can get away with it, while on others where luxury is more important then electric as standard.

I'd say the current range in the UK is manual on 2.0 and 2.5, electric on 3.0i. If you upgrade to sports then your back to manual (well they cleverly don't say and hide the edgs in photos), but if you buy an ///M then electric.

Stop showing those pics!!! Now I'm sure I want the sport seats. :headbang:

Anyone want to trade red sports seats for regular red seats? have red sport seat for cheap?

You mean seats like these?
