I am, the E89 is built in Germany though.

First generation production started in 2002 at BMW USA's Greer, South Carolina plant, with production of both roadster and coupe forms. When debuted, it won Automobile Magazine "Design of the Year Award". Starting with the 2009 model year, the second-generation Z4 is built at BMW's Regensburg, Germany plant as a retractable hardtop roadster.
 
Hmm - well that's dented my confidence in BMWs helpline a bit - nevermind - I've checked the original build sheet and found out that the M seats wheels suspension and steering wheel were all as factory built so that's a relief.

Had read about Z4s being built in the US but got quite impressed when mine was said to have been built in Germany - must be the name of the factory (which sounds German surprisingly!) which made her say that.

Was hoping there might be a higher build quality - we shall see how the US build quality holds out. . . :thumbsup: :driving:

Correct. The plant in the USA is usually called Spartanburg where I believe they now produce the X3 and X5 models.

What makes you think that a BMW built in the USA may have inferior build quality to a BMW built in Germany? :?

If that was the case hardly expect BMW to continue to build cars a dedicated manufacturing plant in the USA. :wink:
