M/Non M Coupe DSP Amplifier programming

Hi folks, just thought I'd share my thoughts on having reprogramed my DSP amplifier in my M Coupe recently. Appreciate the sound system wasn't an over riding factor especially with an S54 upfront but I couldn't believe how lack lustre the DSP set up was

This was even more apparent when I heard the DSP sound in the E85 and got me thinking about programming possibilities as I learnt that BMW used a very different sound stage equalisation in the Coupe to compensate for cabin acoustics.

Anyhow, after I got my hands on a DSP amplifier from an E85 and plugged it in to the M Coupe, I was blown away :o. Next task was to reprogram the original E86 DSP amplifier using the E85 trace file using INPA and the difference was night and day - no more low volume distortion from the Carver subs :D

Happy to share the trace files if anyone fancies a DIY with INPA or if you're not familiar with INPA coding, happy to help with coding your existing DSP amplifier. Just drop me a PM.

I remember reading this a while back and great to hear it makes a noticeable difference. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect Z4MC. No DSP isn't a deal-breaker but if it comes with it I'd love to do this mod, PM inbound!

Honestly, once you get your head around NCS Expert then it's straight forward. The most nervous part is pressing the execute job button :?

Fortunately there are plenty of online tutorials that explain coding with NCS Expert, plus happy to help if I can.

Thanks! i have coded my coupe to have the roadster settings and yes, it is an improvement, the bass tuning is much milder, to the point that you can now go deep into the volume threshold without distorting the woofers so early. it does make a difference!

Pleased that you can hear an improvement. It's shocking that the coupe received such a poor acoustic set up, but at least it's one thing that easily sorted without any resl expense :driving:

[ref]Wassup[/ref], I tried to send you a PM however I was not successful. Do you or anyone on this thread have a copy of the trace file to share?

You need to have made 3 posts before you can use the PM facility, then the message stays in Outbox until the recipient opens it.

Im surprised you think the roady is good!

Both imo are absolutely rubbish. No low end very little mid and too much high!

Almost feels like there is nothing coming out of the base speakers behind the seats in mine same experience in the mcoupe.

I was looking at having some installed under the seats to try and make up for it.

i'm amazed!

I think the sound from DSP on my Z4MR is way way better than the sound from my F82 M4 HK system which is awful. Lid down windows up- sounds great

I had a 2000 330Ci with a standard Business stereo which was way better.

There were some recommended settings for the DSP stereo equalizer on this forum, which I used as a starting point and I've tweaked slightly.

Sounds great!

Will i still need to code to my Z4 if its a straight swap from another DSP Z4? If so, I'm going to need some help in doing that
