M market watch

What’s going on with that handbrake?
I was expecting genuine csl’s for that price but no.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the foldable sat nav screen to reduce drag.

I am 99% sure its a Hartge handbrake, I had one back in the day in my E36 since it was Hartge themed. Doesn't say if it has FSH.

Seems a decent car to me, long ownership, low ish miles and a carbon roof-nice if it’s the real deal.

Be interested to know what exhaust that is. Not many valved exhausts were made for our cars and the only one I can see with the valve positioned like that is the KKS-big money when they were made.

It could, of course be a custom one off but if it’s the kks then that’s a nice selling point.

I’m looking through all the Z4M Coupes for sale at the moment. Would appreciate a pm from anyone with knowledge they may have about any for sale at the moment. Maybe recognise it as once belonging to previous / current member - usually a good sign, or that there is something that may be a red flag but is hard to spot.
Thanks
It’s also difficult when the nearest one for sale is over 200 miles away.

You need to bear in mind that only 592 MCs were registered in the UK, and now the most recent examples are 17 years old quite a few have probably left out roads in wayward fashion!

I found mine just over 150 miles away but 6 years on am so glad I made the trip to view it, then return 2 days later to collect it. :D

Although you must live in a fairly remote part of the UK if the nearest is over 200 miles away so sadly you just need to get lucky, be patient or accept that you'll have to travel.

FWIW if you see a car with 70K+ miles that hasn't had the crank rod bearing shells replaced you need to factor in £1200-1500 for getting that job done by a good Indy. When I got mine replaced at 78K half of them were showing copper, so I was relieved I'd had them done.

Hi guys,

Currently in the market for an M. Have been looking for a while and noticed this one has been up for sale for quite a while. Does anyone know this car or have an understanding why it has taken so long to sell?

Just curious and want avoid any surprises if I do pull the trigger on it.

Reg is Y6FFS.

Thanks.

They seem to be one of a couple of dealers who are trying to carve something of niche with Z4s….both E85/86 and E89.
The car ‘looks’ ok but you’d really need to look closely at that service history. They haven’t given details and from the photos I can only see a last service 6 years ago and the last Insp II 14 years ago!
Additionally, it seems like a car that has been standing a long time. The pitting and corrosion on that brake disc visible in the photos is worse than the ones I threw in the skip for the same the reason before I sold it. I put brand new discs and pads all round on mine just for the sale….and that wasn’t particularly cheap.

They've got back to me asking about the service history stating:

Running in serviced done at 1622 miles.
Oil service 12k. Inspection one 24k. Oil service 37k. Inspection two 49k. Oil service 63k. Inspection one 66k. Oil service 68k. Inspection two 70k.

I assume the Inspection 2 is on the next page but they did not advise a date.

Yeah those brake discs did concern me. I think I'll wait for another to pop up in hopes of something better. It makes concerned it being up for sale for so long...

It's a lovely colour combo but at 74K it's getting near to being ready for new rod bearing shells for peace of mind. I had mine replaced at 78K and half were showing copper, but worse still the engine mounts were totally shagged!

If it had an Inspection 2 at 70K that is good news as the Inspection services aren't cheap, and neither are front brakes as they are unique to the Z4M and M3CSL. My new discs and pads cost almost £600 + VAT supplied and fitted in 2024.

It's probably been for sale for ages because it is too dear IMHO, and apparently potential buyers feel the same!

This one went very quick.

Can’t see the ‘Madeira wood’ or ‘brushed aluminium’ trim they’ve listed as an optional extra (unless it’s been wrapped / swapped for piano black), and would like to know if the vanos & timing chain in 2024 @ 66,000 miles were purely preventative or if an issue had popped up.

It’s also on Davanti tyres, which they describe as ‘good’, but I guess that just means their condition and not their quality/performance.

I remember feeling slightly queasy when I read "Madeira Wood Trim"!

So if it has been wrapped to look like Piano Black that would be a plus point for me as Interlagos with Light Sepang is a great colour combo.

Not sure it matters why the Vanos and cam-chain were done though. If nothing else it means neither should be an issue any time soon. But on 70K miles I'd be thinking about bearing shells soon.

I wonder if that was (primarily) a chain guide replacement and something got lost in translation.

I enquired about this. The dash trim was swapped for the piano black and the vanos was done with timing chain at mr vanos.

I keeps appearing and disappearing off AT when people reserve it. Unless it really has been sold now.
