M market watch

I think a few unfair comments there as if I haven't owned one before... or have no idea... I think that's the reason I'm so picky I don't want to buy a poor example for the sake of buying another.

All I mean is pretty much what MRPT said there aren't any currently for sale with credentials I would purchase like I said poor history as the no.1. Most have missed the 1200 mile service, if that is something you would be happy with purchasing then that's up to you but it certainly wouldn't be something I would entertain, essentially the most important.

With recent experience of buying a Boxster S with 2 owners FSH and well documented for the engine to go 1000 miles later has made me pretty paranoid about what signs are telling me and what's in store later down the line. Fair the M is less sensitive but I only have experience of up to 63k and past 70kmis where preventative maintenance is key especially age related items people don't think about.

I intend to have fun in it so want a car I can put a few miles on without it hitting high mileage within the first year.

I spent a lot of money and time getting my M coupe to what I would consider very good condition and I agree I drove it hard and looked after it well and as a second car put 20k on it.

Like I said my comments are more the state of the market. Every car is at a premium even the dogs barely any have the credentials as simple as good service history which I would say is why non have moved and new ones disapere so quick. I would understand if you guys had rang to ask about said cars like I have, pretty much crossed the 25 cars on auto trader off the list because of poor history or the research into the random garages they have been serviced.

Also the Z3M market is a different proposition they are 5 years older than the Z4M so more like 15-16 years old and have the classic status the Z4M is being priced like that but barely any in memory of the high end expensive cars of 25k+ have sold. The two cars currently for sale with over 100k have been sitting for the best part of 6-8 months all through the busy summer months and now through winter.

Totally agree, and all valid points. Stick to your guns, and hopefully you will find the right car before the summer.
Ignore the haters,a few on here these days unfortunately Tom.

With you having owned a cracking example of an M coupe before,in one of the best colours, with csl's etc,it will probably be making your search harder,as you quite rightly wouldn't want to get something that wasn't as good as that one,or thereabouts.
Look forward to seeing you,and new car,at meets this year, all going to plan  :driving:

I disagree but didn't expand on why I feel it should be considered. It's the potential market for ours in 5-10 years time so should be a consideration for buyers and yourself, based on your written thinking, or at least my take on it - forgive me if I've got this wrong. The reason I was interested was because the 100k+ milers do seem to sell and still command a large budget, be Coupe or Roadster.

It sounds like you're sans car, have the same standards as I do in terms of quality examples, but intend to do far more miles... I don't think you can have your cake and eat it any more, sadly. You cannot grab a 30k miles car for "decent" budget, use it and enjoy it for 5-8k per year and then sell it for the same amount you paid for it having realised it's potentially and appreciating classic. That ship has sailed, I believe since you sold the car (only recently I seem to recall, as the photos of your car was what really sold the Zed to me two years ago).

I'm not the leading expert on roadster prices so take what I say with a pinch of salt but you're near the Coupe price lines with 16.75k and, whilst your mileage is low-ish, it's not low-ish enough to warrant that price. That being said, spec seems reasonable, barring the alu dash which most buyers will prefer not to have (albeit a swap or wrap is fairly simple and cheap) and you may benefit from having an immaculate service history which might merit a slightly higher price than others, but you'd need to add quite a lot more detail to demonstrate that. Feels like you're perhaps 1.5-2k over priced there at present. Looks a nice motor, however.

Do you know the service history of this car Stevo?

Unless any seller has fully detailed the service history I would take "full service history" with a very large pinch of salt.

Even mine isn't 100% Oil/Inspection services are fine, but for some reason or other it went 3 years between a brake service.

Not saying the above isn't, but to command a very strong price it would need to be 100%

Hiya, nope, no idea and I can't vouch for this car and agree with you, hence the invitation for the seller to clarify...

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. You're right the car is very clean and also has the benefit of the BMW used car warranty. The history is complete but like you say there may be the odd item not completed exactly to BMW guidance. I will amend the price downwards...........slightly. I'm sorry to sell it but I need the cash for my new venture http://www.foremancars.com

This was on Autotrader a few weeks back. Recognise the wheel centres. Certain something has changed but can't bring to mind what it is...

You say that, but I don't see many around cheaper. That's what happens when cars appreciate - the crap ones go up in value too...don't get anchored to a single point in time.

Remember the 'worlds worst' Ferrari 456 that sold for £17k? You think you'd get change from £30k for that now?
