M market watch

Agreed..

But having had them in both flavours numerous times there isn't any way I would have £20,000 in one

Just my opinion of course..

And same was said of 911 996 turbos 10 years ago......

If I had the money and the garage space, I'd happily have £20k in a nice specced sub 50k miles M coupe, it would sit nicely along side current the roadster daily driver :)

I'd love to try a 996 turbo too, but I missed the boat on the best prices for them :(

Were 996 turbos £20k 10 years ago?

I very nearly bought a black turbo 2 years ago after a sold my C4s, but after driving it I didn't bother...
The 996 is a poor car, badly put together and engineered by a penny pinching manufacturer..
Vastly overrated ...

I wouldn't mind a 997.2 or the new shape Cayman though..

Porsche have a really unusual fan base, badge snobs that despite paying hugely inflated prices for something that isn't well engineered or reliable, cannot see past the marque...

Remember too that old bog standard fords are now going for silly money too, doesn't make them any good either..

i suppose the price could be irrelevant, if your buying it as an investment and you think you can make money then it doesn't really matter what you pay, the risk is whether or not you will get back more than you pay

people who buy art are often buying a piece of sh*t but they see it as an investment

Never ceases to amaze me the range of 'commodities' people invest in, clocks, watches, gold, art, cars etc. All taking a risk, some of which pay off handsomely if sold at the right time.
Apparently Ferrari F40's were about £150k 15 years ago, now nearer £1m. Hindsight hey!

Just an update on my cars valuation from the same site. Just over £300 more than this time last year.

so in july it was worth 11000 and now its worth 8500, am i reading that right?

Yes....

Both figures being bollocks..... But its a fair indicator that the car was £2500 more in the summer...

As Gary says figures are bollocks, but gives yo an indication of yearly trend and also an increase over last year.

Pretty sure I paid top price for mine, but co-car opt out covers the price completely within 2 years & unlike a co-car, I have the residual in the car at the end if I ever sell it. Compared to the depreciation on a 'new' car for me to drive dailly, it's a no brainier for me; even if I get a big bill at some point.

Still doesn't stop me wanting a daily drive, but seem to end up looking at 535s as a daily option which doesn't really save me any money...guess I just like effortless power available when I need it.

Highly doubt I will make a true profit on this, but in my mind a car is for driving & enjoying, hence buying the lowest mileage one I could find as I knew I'd be adding significantly to it. You only live once, so I intend to enjoy every minute when I'm driving. The '3 counties Xmas run' was epic this year & used a lot of the power to make progress past other cars, am sure some called me a few names but bugger it, something satisfying about overtaking at pace uphill :-)

Anyway back on topic, the summer price increase seems very interesting compared to the winter increase...although forgotten the chart since I started typing this!

Cheap one ??
