Interesting. That's virtually identical to my mileage, same sort of condition but less well specified.

Wow, at 32k and better spec my car must be worth atleast £24,500 :driving: :driving: :driving: :D :D (better let my insurers know)

Get on it now! Have you got an agreed valuation on yours Steven? I keep meaning to do mine and haven't got around to it yet.

I do, but only at £19k...might look to revise come renewal time

Think I'll have to do this for mine too when I renew in April.

ScotiaSteves Imola MC is now up at Sytner Nottingham for £21,850. No photos on yet.

I don't think seat colour will divide more buyers than most colours do. I certainly didn't want black seats, which are probably seen as a "safe" option for example. It's an austere looking interior anyway so black just makes it worse. I'm biased but Champagne or Sepang or something like that on a dark blue car is a great contrast and really suits the exterior colour.

There's a bit of snobbery over the Van dealer bit. If it's a good car and they're honest and reputable does it really matter that much?

Well it's got us divided. It's not that I don't like it, it's just not suitable for me in my job due to spending all day in an engineering workshop. It wouldn't take long for it to look pretty grubby and they'll be plenty of other buyers thinking of the same thing.

I can see how the van dealer comment could seem snobbish, but wasn't meant to be that way. I'll buy from private, independent or main dealer if the car is right. So I'll retract that comment.

I think Champagne leather looks great on all the blacks, all the blues and Imola Red cars, and Silver Grey and Ti Silver are better suited to red or black leather.
I didn't really want a car with black leather but it wouldn't have stopped me buying if the rest of the car was right. I get what you're saying about keeping it clean if you have a dirty job though and its your daily use car.

I suspected they would list high :)

I got what I paid for it back plus all my running costs so happy with that. I could have held out for more but to be honest I was happy with an easy quick sale, and it would have been due an Inspection 2 in a couple of thousand miles which would have been a grand plus anything else they decided to find.

I got my BMW Warranty refunded as well, so that was a great result.

On the market though, in reality most people were looking to pay private 16k or so for my car, 16.5k max.

So although prices may appear to be going up, I think they are firming for sub 50k cars, but 70k cars and above seem to be dropping. Those leggy cars look like a bargain right now...

In my opinion it is likely to sell for significantly less, and I'd be surprised if they get 21k but good on them if they do, they have bills and staff to pay after all.

I know I will get jumped on for this, but I love how an 8 year old car with 70k miles on it is considered 'leggy'. That's 8,750 miles a year, which is much less than average mileage of 10-12k a year.

Yeah in Z4 terms, it seems high mileage is anything north of 8k per year, which I've always found strange. Any other car would be considered low miles at 8k per year.

I consider my zed at the lower end of 'average' relative to the Z4 mileage scale - i.e. 50k miles, 2007 (07 plate). To anyone else 50k miles on a near 8 year old is nothing!

Yet, low mileage to us Z4 enthusiasts is probably under 30k at 8 yrs old...

I just think it's perception of total mileage rather than average per year. 70k sounds "high" compared to 50k. a. It's daft but that's where I think it stems from.

With these engines 70k is no issue.

My only concerns with the Z4M would be rust. I ACF 50's mine as soon as I got it, inside wings, hinges, everywhere. Works great.

They need to be garaged to survive, like any car.

If you use it all year round, the miles will get high, many of these are not toys but every day cars, so will deteriorate. Those with less miles are generally more likely to be in better condition, sometimes due to being second cars.

I wouldn't have an issue with a 70k mile car, the price difference is a little silly as others have said, you lose your advantage of "low" miles if you drive it!

I have multiple motorcycles, my friends on 50k is assumed to be untouchable due to mileage, my bikes on 8 to 9k each are low mileage, anything above 20k is high! Funny old world.

But I wouldn't invest in a Z4M, but if I were after a low risk fun car in terms of depreciation and driving fun/cost, it's a good bet.

Interesting comment about the rust, as its not a problem I've read anything of on here, even on high mileage 11 year old prefacelifts. Except on things like exhaust brackets. Mine is garaged, though used all year round - when I bought it the rear wishbones looked new. It's no longer under 30k miles though, so probably going to fall apart now :(

They can suffer..

I have heard of people getting rust on more or less every panel..

The ACF 50 stuff puts a nice barrier on all exposed alloy stuff, and it creeps into the wiring loom joints and plugs to stop any corrosion..

IIRC its something used in the military, and its filtered down to automotive use. The bike guys seem to use it a lot to protect all exposed engine casings etc etc..

So you apply it after washing, to all exposed metal, including things like the suspension etc ?

Bing, we have seen rust on the rear panels just behind the door where it meets the roof, and also on wheel arches where the liners rub.

Coupes also suffer with tailgate rot.

Would you use this for inside the wings?
