I just bought a 2006 Z4MR with 50K miles for 14K. Its identical to http://www.sytner.co.uk/car-search/5663071-bmw-z4-m-3.2-2dr/ from a BMW independent dealer. To me it looks as if prices have now stabilised around this sort of price (i'd been looking for a while).

Indeed! Yes Insp2 was done (the only non BMW service history stamp..) by the BMW indy. Brakes are good but I want to change to pilot super sports only because the existing tyres are about 4 years old (the car hasn't done many miles in the last years).

Looks dodgy to me as could be the abs pump or controller which is a pricey one! I'm in the market to buy (in fact really keen to get in one) but this looks like it could be a world of pain!

Looks dodgy to me as could be the abs pump or controller which is a pricey one! I'm in the market to buy (in fact really keen to get in one) but this looks like it could be a world of pain!

Good mileage for the price, obviously it's a gamble though if not that big of a one.
I don't like the advert though to be honest....£200 my arse to fix it, mis-leading in my eyes. If it was that easy to fix these problems and re-list for nearly 2.5k more according to him then why wouldn't he do it...is what I would be asking myself. What is this 'common fault', there is no such thing that I know of. The only fault I know of is the unit/pump itself being faulty, it's been documented on here I believe so it does happen, IIRC it ain't £200 though, even if you do it yourself. And that's if it can be re-con'd, if you need a new unit/pump...your looking well north of 1k.

Lot of if's and but's.....probably worth finding out more if your interested. Find out exactly what the codes are and the associated issues and factor that into the price from there, with a new unit if necessary. Don't let him convince you that it can deffo be refurbed as until it's off the car and looked at it may well not be. Chances are it probably can be but don't take it as a certainty.
Like I say, ask yourself why he hasn't done it himself.....I don't buy the 'haven't got time' argument myself.

I'm probably being overly harsh but just remember it's a lot of your hard earned dough, so do the research. I would check out DPG's on here as well now that's for sale, looks to be fully sorted, save you some pennies and decent mileage if not a tad higher than this.

Thanks for reply. It stinks to me so I'm not even going to touch it tbh. As you say if it was so easy then you'd do it yourself. I'm also put off nearly as much by the black carbon badge mod

Maybe I'm a soft touch, but the Ad comes across as genuine to me, he's already admitted the faults & he could have just said nothing & cleared the fault codes as they appeared.

If I was in the ///Market I think I'd at least take a look at this.

I had Redish Motorsport in Bristol do it for me , just checking the invoice there's total of a 1 hours labour removing and installing the pump

But I think it's not to bad to remove the abs pump , looks easy to get to

But I think it's not to bad to remove the abs pump , looks easy to get to

Took me less than an hour to get the pump out and I'd never done one before.

Putting it back and bleeding the brakes took slightly longer, but not much.

Totally agree....I've known quite a few mates who can't be arsed spending money on their sports cars when they have decided to sell them (even though they know it hurts them come sale time)...guess it's psychological in some way. Would be surprised if that car hangs about long, 29k miles for £15k seems a very good price.

TBH, given then mileage I'd expect you could buy it, drive straight to sytners, sell it to them and be a grand up...

Very good value for money for the mileage, especially with the KW clubsports and AP front calipers, IF the engine has been properly sorted now. A car I had tried to buy for some weeks with various barriers to me viewing it, the 'slight tapping noise' was actually a loud knocking and required bottom end work at least (I have a video of the noise). The work was being done by a friend of the seller who was a technician at a main dealer. Disappointed to have driven all the way to Kent for a wasted journey.

The Z4mc design is very colour sensitive, looks great in Imola Red ( ) but less graceful in Black as the dark colour "hides" most of its features. (i.e: the shape of the rear glass when looking at the car from behind)
