///M gone, time for the grand unveiling...

It's a coupe

And a Porsche :o

Have to say I'm gobsmacked - but it looks tidy

You pleased ?

Was waiting patiently for the unveil & not disappointed  prefer the twin pipe S but i could live with it for sure :driving:
I'm a big big fan of most things 911 & thought you had gone Cayman ?
Hope the "pre turn key" Porsche paranoia doesn't get to you :poke: wasn't a issue with aircooled but i certainly felt it when watercooled :(
Haters will hate but for me it's just the quintessential evolution of German engineering at it's best & will be disappointed in myself if i never get to the 997
Although gen2 would ease my nerves

You still telling me that the car was not in your "for sale" advert? :poke:

Enjoy it, but keep it in one piece

is that a non s carerra 2 997 ? nice , but in the head turning stakes the M wins hands down imo, on any one of my cwll to london runs I will see scores of these, and maybe one m coupe. they are just too common for me. that aside , theres no denying they are a lovely car and beautifully engineered. too dear for me too, maybe one day i dont know, the M always excites and holds its own in most company. performance is very very close too, always wondered why the porkers are not limited to 155 too as they are german, this gives them an edge over other cars that would be just as quick, interested to know why this is. enjoy the new wheels. :driving:

I just found this with regards to limited top speed ........

The german car's do it as a sort of "gentlemans agreement" which was set by the German Green party. However, they say that their car's are limited to 155, but you'll find they can go alot faster.

Apparently Porsche didn't honour the agreement :driving: :driving: :driving:

There's a number of reasons why I took the dive, the biggest ones;
a) The deal was a no-brainer... if ever I wanted an '06 40k mile Carrera, I would usually have to spend at least £4k more than I bought this for to get my hands on one at all.
b) Granted I lose the soft top... but the novelty has worn off for now, I may come back to driving a convertible at some point in the not-too-distant future, but for now, the novelty of being 24 and owning a Porsche 911 is far more appealing, and a 997 at that! (would not have considered the 996)
c) only having 2 seats was becoming an inconvenience, and it would become harder to live with now that my gf is living with me and I am often ferrying people about

...on to the fun stuff...

The BHP is marginally less than the ///M, but the Carrera has more torque from the 3.6 engine, the overall stats are impossible to draw a line between. The massive wave of said torque you get once you are moving is just incredible and the way it enters corners is so much sharper and balanced, I have already been able to drive it a lot harder than I would drive the ///M, the ride is far more comfortable, and I get a little more ground clearance.

Lastly, I actually have connections at Porsche so I can start getting better deals on parts and servicing (which I didn't at BMW).

There is no denying that the ///M is an incredible machine, but there is a big gap between it and the Carrera, while the Z4 is a very fast and powerful sports car, people keep telling me the Carrera is closer to a supercar.... and I rather like that!

As good as the M is the 911 is better in every way imo! Apart from price. Lovely car, would have spent the extra buying the S tho.

Enjoy

I'd be worried if I were you... you're turning into PVR...

Nice ride though...
